New Ulm Brewing is listed as the brewer, but it might possibly be brewed at August Schell. @jesskidden ??

Any chile beer I've ever had has *almost always sucked.
Chile does not belong in beer.
Like pineapple on pizza, GTFOH with that garbage.
    *slap*

    *one exception: a mole stout

On my last trip to Binny's (on W. Irving Park), amidst purchasing Spiteful, Bell's, ATB, City Lights, the $7.99 15-pack 12-oz. cans of Genesee Cream Ale had to be included.:beer:

Pumpkin is a adjunct, coffee and chocolate are flavorings. Pumpkin offers fermentable sugars, whereas coffee and chocolate do not. The definition of an adjunct is a fermentable source outside of malted grain. Coffee and chocolate may offer some fermentable sugars (I'm not a scientist), but not enough to move them over from the flavoring column.

Far too many folks are way to serious about beer. Beer ought not to be a contest. Beer has always been both vocation and avocation for me. I have fun with beer and never sweat FOMO.

Nothing controversial here. Just sound notes on subjective taste. Habanero Sculpin was indeed a drainpour

This is a controversial opinions thread, but that, sir, is WAY too controversial an opinion

Chile can belong in beer as long as it is used judiciously, and not as the driving flavor. Mole stout is the perfect example.

There is more taste variety in New England IPAs than in most Lager styles.

That would depend on where one lives I guess. There was a a change inn the law in NJ around 2012, that led to an explosion in the number of craft breweries starting around 2015. We are much better off now then 7 years ago.

It’s hard to argue with that statement.

Just curious if folks think that "likes" in this thread mean that people agree with the opinion in the post? Or is it that folks think that the post definitely is a controversial opinion?

Are these styles super expensive in France? When cantillon shows up here it is usually around $20 a bottle for the regular stuff, 3F is similar and their fancy stuff is more available and gets into the $30 range. Boone and Tilquin are cheaper than that. Not cheap enough for everyday drinking but nothing outlandish in my book, its like an $8-$9 pint

    This.

If your "controversial opinion" is you don't like hazy ipa's and adjuncts, and you love lagers because you keep it so real, we got it. It's not controversial.

I should have included this with my original five, but it was 6:30AM and the coffee hadn't sparked all the cylinders yet.

    6) "Craft Beer" is a useless and misleading term rife with connotations that may or may not be true. The term conjures images of small, independent, made with love, etc. Who cares. I'm interested in quality beer, regardless of the size of the brewery. A lot of small "craft breweries" make inferior beer.

I currently have double digit likes for my post where I'm negative about Rochefort - a lauded brewery that I've never seen anything negative written about before. No challenges to that opinion either. I doubt any of those likes are from agreeing with that attitude though. Guessing they're more due to the intro regarding pumpkin beer or the general attitude. Just a hunch.

Same as last time, but that was years ago. Detailed notes about (hell, everything about) "lacing" is meaningless.
