I have no personal tasting experience to provide here but Stroh's did make a 'deal' about being fire brewer. The high direct heat to the brew kettle would create some caramelization which should produce a differing flavor profile and a bit darker color to the beer.

You might be interested in watching the below video. The fire brew aspect starts at around 4:30.

    Cheers!

Why would that be the case?
There are 3 breweries within 50 miles of my city that I know are currently operating. Without competition from “outside” breweries they would have no incentive to up their game. What about areas that could only support one or two breweries within your 50 miles and they both decide not to put out anything other than IPA's and milkshake stouts?
“My beers don't need to be great, 'cause what else are you going to buy?”

I said it was controversial, not logical.

Been a while since I checked out their website, but several years ago, they were proud users of Willamette and Cascade hops, which would have been cutting edge 25 years ago.

I disagree. Large distribution raises the bar for local breweries. There are a ton of local breweries that are putting out substandard product and making due just because they are local. If they put in the work and make excellent product, then they'll step up to regional and then national. Then, if they stick to their guns and keep making the same quality of product as they did originally, they'll be even more successful, like Stone, and not a shell/schill like Sam Adams.

"It used to be better" might mean any of the following:
    • "It doesn't stand out anymore relative to new similar beers"
    • "My tastes have changed"
    • "I don't actually remember what it tasted like but I told someone it was good and I can't back off from that stance"
    • "I've hyped the memory of the beer"
    • "Something about the beer actually did change"

...and...I don't trust you to be conscious of which one you really mean.

Also..."Grumble grumble adjuncts and flavors and haziness is ruining beer grumble grumble" = "I don't like change"

I can see this point; but how's the distribution in Monaco? Must be brutal.

I have a controversial opinion, tasting beer and rating to style are not the same thing as tasting for preference. Some people seem to think their lack of understanding of a beer equates to the beer being simply bad. A level 14 Dwarf cannot wield a level 16 battle axe my friend though you're free to have it in your bag of holding.

Glad to see this. I have a box for you somewhere between New England and who the hell knows where. I doubt you'll ever see it, but it's nice to know you'd give it a taste. :stuck_out_tongue:

I would try an Old England IPA before trying any new New England IPAs. I find them rather monolithic and boring. One and done is not my style of drinking...

Given the length of the first go ‘round of this, something like this likely came up though I missed it if it was repeated here. So hell, I’ll give it a shot...

Looking at the Beer Styles page here, if you can’t enjoy all the styles in at least 12 of the 14 categories**, you don’t “like beer” - you like “some beer” or maybe even “a few beer styles.”

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

**Also, if you one “category” you can’t enjoy is cask ales

Preach! @Snowcrash000. I love the farmhouse and wild/spontaneous styles but can only enjoy them occasionally because they are basically $20 as a baseline. That said, Cantillon Geuze for $20 or less is a killer deal for a world class organic beer, purchases half a world away from its production

Most enjoyable beer I have had since Cali started its SIP? Modelo. Not close.
    Also:
    - Kettle Sours > Mixed Ferm other than SARA
    - Lagers > Pilsners
    - Pale Ale > IPA > DIPA
    - Non BA Malts > BA Malts, without exception
    - Younger is the only legit good (not just good for so big) hoppy beer above 10%
    - Post Ferm Cuve's (mixing your beers together in a cup like an unsupervised child), totally ok and encouraged. The whalier the better. Same goes for beer cocktails.
    - Loons are meant to be solo-domed on Tuesdays
    - Local beer > Other beer (even if it isn't)
    - Natural Wine > Most Beer
    - Regular Ass Wine < Everything
    - Keep that shiz under 5%
