This is for all the traders. I have a box and this is not the first time it has happened, that should have arrived Monday at the latest. As I track it praying it arrives safe, in the 7 days since it left Chicago I have only gotten one or two notifications about where it is. Wondering have others had weird stories about missing or slow moving beer mail?

Bummer, man... Sorry to hear that.

A bit more info might be helpful here. What provider you are using, what's the last update on tracking, what you called the provider for an update?

Currently experiencing the same situation. Trade partner shipped my box using USPS on June 3rd. Most flat rate boxes I have sent have made it on time but when late were only late by a day. When you check the tracking number it says that the box is within the delivery network but will be delivered late. Tracking has shown this message for the last 4 days and shows no sign of being scanned since it left California. When I call USPS they have no additional info so as of now I am holding out hope it finally lands or gets scanned somewhere and I will atleast know that its not lost. Good luck op, hope your box makes it.

This comment is specific to USPS:

I have had this issue with both regular mail and beer mail. 95%+ of my packages arrive on time but every now and then there is an outlier and I have had priority mail take up to two weeks a handful of times. There isn't really much you can do about it but watch and wait it out but FWIW the USPS has only lost or misdelivered two of my packages out of probably 1000 over the years. You will most likely get it but who knows how long it will take.

Had something similar happen with a trade on FB. Showed it departed the main distro hub in Cali and then no scans or updates for 5 days. On the 6th day I got a random update saying it was out for delivery. Hope that ends up being the case for you

I have had issues, independently, with USPS and Fedex and UPS in the past month or so. Some of them sound similar to this. No lost packages yet thankfully, but delays and poor tracking capabilities across the board.

We should probably get used to it for the time being, and it doesn't seem like any carrier is immune to these issues (understandably).

I have had the same thing happen twice with usps. The tracking will keep updating “moving within system” without specifics. Ultimately they showed up in less than 10 days, undamaged.
there is a link on the website to file the tracking # as missing. I had read that the situation usually has to do with a package getting set off to the side. There’s apparently little areas for packages that have fallen off or been misplaced, so if someone looks for it they’ll put it back on track. (Both figuratively & literally).
    Hope this helps.

Like others mentioned, there is still hope of it isn't pinging as destroyed or detained. I've heard of a supposed USPS black hole in Chicago.that can consume packages/letters for weeks or months only to spit them back out as if nothing unusual happened. I imagine things are hectic in the various warehouses of these.companies as people adjust procedures while being swamped with higher than usual volume. Boxes get lost in the shuffle and if you can pester them politely those boxes can often be found a bit faster

There’s a place outside Chicago, can’t think of the place where packages get take forever to get through. I ordered something non-alcohol related and it took about 1 week to get through.

LOL. Must be something about the Chicago area. A couple years ago I shipped a box to Pittsburgh via fedex that got lost. My trading partner and I got the complete run around from FedEx about the lost box, insisting that the box had been delivered, and that one of his neighbors must have snatched it off his porch. They suggested he go canvass the neighborhood to see if someone had his box. I finally went ahead and filed a claim for the lost box.

Roughly 3 weeks went by and out of the blue I got an email from my partner in Pittsburgh. He told me to run the tracking number through the fedex site. Sure enough, the box was showing as back on its way from some distribution center outside of Chicago. A couple days later my buddy got the box, none the worse for damage (the beers were all high octane HOTD variants and weren't harmed in the least by the cold weather).

    The Bermuda Triangle of shipping?

I'm in the same boat right now with an international trade. Trader shipped on June 2nd, and tracking showed the departure, as well as its arrival into the US, but it has not updated since landing in New York (US arrival point). It has been in NY for 9 days now, and nothing has changed or updated.

I generally avoid USPS for various reasons, but I fully understand my trade partner's desire to use it for an international trade. I thought perhaps I should call USPS and inquire, but something tells me that won't do much good. Really hoping it isn't lost in the ether - I'll feel absolutely horrible if he's out a box with a nice bottle of lambic. At least most people who've shared similar stories seem to have gotten their boxes in the end. Fingers crossed.

Be prepared to wait much, much, much longer. I worked out an international trade at the beginning of March, and it wasn't released from NY customs until the end of May (it showed up then without a change in tracking status). I doubt their timing has changed significantly since then.

This one hasn't even shown that it has been received by customs. You did eventually get your box in the end though?

Mine did not show that it was received in Customs either, I only figured out as much through a little digging. I spoke to others who were in the same boat (there's even a thread in this forum about it, I believe). Yes, I received the package safely. Glad it was lambic versus something more time-sensitive, and glad the temps likely weren't too high but you only have so much control there. I don't think you have any reason to worry about the package being lost, you may just have to be (very) patient. Two to four months is a more realistic timeline than the usual 2-3 weeks or so.

I sent a box through USPS to Sweden on March 16th. It's been MIA since arriving in Jamaica NY International Distribution Center. I'm sure it's still sitting there.

I put in a claim on April 26th, they responded on June 11th with a generic message stating packages have been delayed due to the pandemic. That's the whole response. It took like 33 business days to get that useless reply. I don't feel any better.

My sister-in-law is has an etsy shop and does a good amount of shipping. She has run into a number of issues of packages just going into a black hole at the Jamaica, NY distribution center.

I'm not sure if that's good or bad news but thank you for the tip.
