I happen to be drinking a One Million Eight Hundred and Seventy Thousand Million imperial stout right now and genuinely do not understand why people think stouts are bad in the summer.

I can enjoy a light bodied Stout even on the hottest day of the summer. Bell's Kalamazoo Stout or New Holland's The Poet Oatmeal Stout are both good in any season.

My local shop placed several Founders CBS packs in their cooler the other week. I've already purchased 2 and may check again tomorrow and snag a 3rd along with Old Rasputin....really been craving it recently. Otherwise I may perhaps also pick up a Westbrook Mexican Cake as I saw that hit the shelf Saturday...didn't grab it but thought about it.

A kilometer is like a mile right? Except if moose were deer, plus i think you have to.calibrate your conversion to account for maple syrup.

I love Guinness Foreign Extra Stout and Sierra Nevada Stout (When available) in the summer. I also save a bunch from the winter (numerous breweries) to enjoy during the hot summer months. I find a nice stout a solid break from summer beers.

No, no, no...maple syrup is what you use to convert kilograms to pounds. You guys are never going to learn Canuck at this rate. Kilometres to miles depends on the length of the beaver tail you’ve been served by the Rideau Canal or at the Byward Market. I’m doing my best here, but just work with me OK.

I drink stouts all year. I tend to reserve them and barley wines for after dinner brews

They're really not; I think it's just a mental thing. I prefer stouts more in the winter, but I've also lived in the north my whole life and I know for a fact that places like Florida are well known for their big imperial stouts in spite of the year-round hot weather. It's the same with coffee. When you're in the tropics it's not about enjoying them because it's cold, you simply enjoy them for the taste itself.

I have a case of Yuengling Black & Tan in the fridge that my father in law brought over. Scratches the dark beer itch nicely during the summer. 60% Porter 40% Premium beer. They go down way too easy while I'm grilling outside.

I drink most styles year round, though I do tend to skip the really high-test ones, like the 10+%, BBA stouts, quads and barleywines when it's really hot out.
I have a homebrew imperial stout, weighs in around 8%, I think (I don't have my notebook nearby) that is great by a firepit on a summer eve.

Summer-time stouts at 8% and below are fine, but the big stuff? Yeah, that's winter-hibernation grizzly shit for me.

I discovered Guinness Stout during one summer at the Cat's Eye Pub on Thames Street in Baltimore back in the 80's. I never looked back. Now, I am into Russian Imperials big time and it does not matter what time of year other than some are not available locally in the summer. Of course, if I am sweating it our on the beach, I am not drinking an RIS, but once back in the AC, you bet!
