So...you're assuming Atrial has 0 secondary value, with their $140 retail to your $34, they'd be better off just going secondary, especially since those are not the most sought after BMs.

5500 bottles with a 12 bottle limit ordered online. You're assuming they do have secondary value. What are the values of the beers involved?

We’re probably talking 3 jester king trade units to 2 voodoo trade units right now for quantities/variants listed. Atrial will probably adjust down to about 2.5 jk trade units after the weekend and a lot of pick ups occur. Also must take into account four quarters do not equal a dollar, but the gap between four quarters and two fifty cent pieces is closer. The voodoo side is short right now but give it a week and the right set of might close this.

Not completely random as I think I saw this number mentioned elsewhere as a starting gauge, but say Atrial is a solid $75. 3x gets you to 225. That's about right for 2x BMs...sure, maybe the BMs are more like 120 per but that's still 240 and within range of 225...versus the hypothetical 300 in 4x Atrial secondary.

Annnnd now I don't really like myself for typing all of that beer economics bullshit.

Each of the two bottles you are offering currently aren't even going on secondary for about the retail of two bottles you're asking for. That's retail.

So one BM Rebel Yell would be less than $70 for example. You're asking for 2 bottles retail for one bottle's weak and falling secondary.

Again, after understanding that point, go back to my original point for the full circle. Rinse and repeat.

You are 100% correct in that beer economics is bullshit. Question for you: Voodoo goes to a 12 per limit online order system for Magicks. What happens to that 120?

@Sabtos Are you a flat Earther? Trying to gauge the level of stupid I'm dealing with to go with your bias against Voodoo.

Same amount made, just in less people's hands? Much more beer made and 12 per person? But good question...plenty beers are backed by stupid values that don't completely make sense so it'd be an unknown though likely that value, yes, drops to 65-80.

Nobody really knows what the bottle count is but if the limit were 12 per the bottom would drop out no matter how the distribution to individuals shakes out. There's no denying that fact.

Are you completely ignorant to the fact that there are other trading and secondary value resources than BeerAdvocate?

Fact is you're trading 12 ounce bottles of low demand BM sold at multiple locations that didn't sell out for a few hours vs 750ml bottles of a consistently very highly regarded annual Jester King release that sold out in 8 minutes.

Riveting convo here (especially when the most helpful answer has already been given above, i.e. 4:2 might be a little steep now and 3:2 is probably more likely, but that could easily change to make 4:2 reasonable in a few weeks)... but as a quick aside can we do our best to collectively stop equating "asking for too much beer" with "****?"

It's not a big deal. I'm not judging anyone who does it too harshly. Just something to keep in mind that is a relic of an unfortunate part of past beer culture that people might want to strive to improve. Cheers all.

No one ever went from 3:2 back to 4:2, except you. Instead it was 3:2 to 2.5:2. So...unless you can quote something, you still seem to be misunderstanding.

And using a literal term figuratively without finding a more fitting term, while criticizing someone for using a term literally when the literal meaning actually fits (look it up), well, that's rich. To the mod that deleted the comment for being "Highly politically incorrect language," actually, again, it's nothing of the kind. It is literally defined as such, and is accurately applied to economic situations on the daily.

The term describes economically pillaging, raiding, shorting, and feeling more entitled than others via one's assets, and using it is both a stark attention getter, and can be quite accurate in discussing the way certain communities are treated. While I'm not trying to "equate" those situations to this one, however...

OP trying to acquire $140 retail of highly regarded, now larger format of what amounts to American lambic for $34 retail of much lower demand BM that is sitting for sale elsewhere and not moving continues to be *expletive deleted (the word that I previously said that apparently is now banned from BA).

@Sabtos this is the trade post I was referencing that I thought sounded the most helpful (i.e. starts at 3:2, but acknowledges that this might shift to close in a week). I hope that clarifies.

Thanks for making your opinions on the colloquial use of "****" as a term in beer trading known. I realize I'm probably not going to change any minds here, so I don't think this discussion needs to continue.

Just wanted to respectfully ask commenters to consider being a little more mindful, and to maybe signal to readers that many in the community do not in fact find this acceptable (given the "likes" I received on a random old trade post so soon, I think you might agree on the early indicators of how the rest of the community feels about this).
