So, you can stop "beer time" at any point in history- when you stopping?

I gotta go with the era when Hill Farmstead, The Alchemist and Lawson's Finest were all still small and "new".

    Yours?

20 years from now when hard seltzer’s are the norm and everyone’s debating alcoholic flavored air.

Back before all these crazy new styles because so mainstream and craft brewers were more focused on brewing classic styles.

That perfect time when craft beer was still seen as innovative by all and Oxygen Bars didn't exist.

Not sure stopping beer time is a good idea, but I would selectively carve out the portion involving pumpkin beers. See what I did there.

I would give my left one to go back to when trappist monks truly fasted through lent and sustained themselves with doppelbock.

Who knows what world class beer awaits in the future, so I would opt to not pause time.

I'd stop the action in 1996 which is when I first got into craft beers. After I tried a handful of styles I became set in my favorites, but now I wish I had kept experimenting and learning about more styles, mostly the imports. I had lost a lot of time before discovering German styles among others.

The present is just fine with me!

I might be tempted to go back when you could get the Young's beers from the Ram, but overall you'd be trading too much and it's not worth it.

If you're a smart shopper things are pretty amazing right now despite all the stupid shit. And last I checked we weren't being forced to buy beer randomly or blindfolded. Just be selective; it's not that hard, and there's still too much to choose from.

Not really wishing I could stop time but more so that I could have fresh beer from each different time frame.

What does the original King Sue taste like compared to now? How about Psuedo ( Smelled like body odor) but cant remember the taste? Zombie Dust, Dreadnaught etc.

Shit even give me a fresh Florida sue can to compare to shelf sue now and let it remind me of how much of a improvement time can be, sometimes...

I'd go back to August 26, 2011, just before Hurricane Irene hit Waterbury Vermont and wiped the best ever brewpub off the map, The Alchemist. Probably the place to be as that crazy storm hit, and put the whole town under feet of water, hoisting some tasty beers with customers and crew in its final hours.

In terms of beer, though, I can honestly say for a person like me who is in love with every style, and whose great pleasure is to switch them up as often as possible, don't need to go back, now is that time. Hopefully not much will change in this regard.

I do wish for a better time to come for those who are dissatisfied with now.

I don't have a preference in the full spectrum, as the overall progression over time just gets better. I remember when we were just getting M-43 and later Boss Tweed year round, it felt like quite the milestone. And now we have year round barrel aged offerings on the shelf that previously sold out one month a year. The market will grow and restructure, but in the end the customer can choose what to drink, just that now you have the variety always available to suit any taste. You can virtually buy any style, as some brewery's year round offering.

Sorry to post twice, but it occurs to me as I sip my raspberry leaf tea w/tincture that I would love to have been nearby to (at a safe distance) the Horse Shoe Brewery, in London England, on October 17, 1814. to witness the Great London Beer Flood. With glass in hand, of course.

Yes X 1000! Stupid me, I’m still kicking myself about when I was much younger and visited Brussels. All I drank was Stella and Leffe. I didn’t know shit back then.

I must confess I’d never heard of this and had to look it up. Thanks for sharing. It was kind of tragic actually, and ironically, it killed some people who happened to be at a funeral for a 2 year old child.
On that note, one of my biggest fears is dropping a full glass carboy and ruining a day’s labor of home brewing. (Hasn’t happened yet) I guess this historical event helps put things in perspective.

You better be well-vaccinated and familiar with the inner-workings of Middle High German then. Some good Latin would help you get around the monastery, too.

For me, it’d be 1842, Pilsen, Bohemia, Austrian Empire, at the birth of Pilsner Urquell. Then take the train down to Vienna to try some of Dreher’s original Vienna Lager, and then to Munich for some old-fashion Dunkel.
