One of the tropical fruit stouts I was thinking of from Evil Twin wasn't the Westbrook collab, which I did see but I guess I never picked up that had pineapple and coconut in it, but there was a stout released that had passionfruit, mango, coffee and lactose in it, and as odd as it sounds it was phenomenal imo. Really dark and roasty, chocolate and coffee notes, not too sweet, lactose smoothed it out, passionfruit and mango were fruity and tropical but not tart, it played really well together I thought and would like to see similar styles done well if possible. The beer was Black As Midnight On A Moonless Night from Evil Twin.

So, no one is going to mention how Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (not the wimpy Guiness Draught) is among the best-selling beers in Nigeria (which, IIRC, is Guinness' second largest market) and other African markets.
Or, how up until about a decade ago, if you were in the US the nearest place one could find Guinness Foreign Extra Stout was in the Caribbean, where the then-Diageo owned Desnoes & Geddes Ltd (Red Stripe brewer) brewed it in Jamaica for the local markets. I imagine that D&G still contract-brews it, even if they're owned now by Heineken.

    OK, then I will.

I wonder who decided to attach seasons to beer? Life's too short not to enjoy stouts, IPA's, wheat beers, etc. all year! :beers:

@Peach63. I understand the concept of certain beer fits a particular season but I have always enjoyed a good porter or stout on a nice summer evening. So I agree that it seems a little silly to think that a season totally excludes a certain style

I can’t believe Burial Beer Co. has not yet been mentioned!! They have been cranking out top class stouts!! Also, they got a coconut brown ale that is delicious! It appears you are from New York and New York is an acceptable state to ship to according to their website. Jump on their site every Thursday 12pm est for new selections. Good Luck and if you give Burial a go I’d be curious to learn your thoughts!

Unfortunately, the FES showed up in one drop in Casper and was gone. Gotta settle for the Export and that's okay with me.

I love non-BA, no-special ingredient imperial stouts. Basic imperial stouts might be my favorite style overall, and I drink them year-round. I stock up on FIS, Ten Fidy, Narwhal, and Expedition when they’re available so that I can drink them all year. Old Rasputin is available all year, but I find it to be over-hopped for the style and a step down from the ones I mentioned.

There is never a bad time to drink Dire Wolf from Wolf's Ridge Brewing in Columbus Ohio. Chocolate, molasses, coffee, dark fruit - what's not to like? Probably not the first one I'd grab after doing yard work but I have it while floating in the pool and it really hits the spot.

I’ve been drinking a lot of Port barrel Abyss and Old World Abyss (sherry barrel). Mainly cause they’ve been marked down to 5.99 at my frequent spot. Guess it’s their loss cause both of them are delicious as hell. Hot or cold weather.

I have set on my deck on July 4th in Western PA to watch the nearby fireworks and I could see my breath and had to wear a sweatshirt. So . . . yeah!

I drink most styles all year long. I have not trouble finding a good stout in the summer, but try finding a good Pilsener in the winter where I live.

Did a FBS/KBS/CBS tasting in the backyard by the fire the other night. Yeah, stouts are ok in the summer.

I think it is natural to drink "in-season", but I would also imagine if people would table their lust for seasonality, that, as you said, a nice stout on a summer evening would satisfy many. This is common in other alcohol categories too. Clear spirits and all rums soar in the warmer months, while whiskeys spike in cooler months.

I prefer stouts/porters to most other styles and drink them year round. But I don't often reach for beers that are over 6% (many stouts and porters seem to way over that these days). I also don't like the pastry stout stuff that's been going on, nor do I enjoy milk stouts. This is all to say, I am extremely thankful to be able to have access to this beer, which is perfect for a dude like me: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16105/41839/

I lean towards porters year-round since there are a handful of decent ones in DFW between Manhattan Project Plutonium-239 and Pegasus City Sixth Floor that are easily drinkable even when it's hotter than hell. That said, Lakewood Temptress for me is good year round. I'm not a terribly big fan of their flavored stouts but the Raspberry Temptress that's sometimes available this time of year is definitely not bad by any means.
