I think Todd brewed a couple of different kinds of Pilsners. I’m gonna give the Helles a shot if it’s still available when I get up there to pick up my MtL bottles. I very much like the Von Trapp Helles.

I went with the Helles. I have A LOT of pilsner in my fridge. Be a nice change.

Don’t forget to provide a brief report on the Helles.

Also, were you able to simply show up in person to buy beer (and get your MtL) or did you have to preorder online with curbside pickup?

Yup. Showed up, called, Galen answered. I said, “Hi this is ______ and I have two bottles of MtL and I’d like to add on a four pack of helles.”

She took my CC# and three minutes later she came to my car. Wicked easy.

    .
I love supporting them—they are such nice people. I end up buying more of their stuff than I plan to almost every time I go just because they genuinely seem to appreciate it. Well, and the beer is good. There is that.

    That’s no excuse.

You know how many people have nothing but New England IPAs in their fridge?

hahaha ... damn you got me. I have four different pilsners in the fridge, and now added a third helles to the bunch. Figured it was only fair to helles to even it out a bit.

Just picked up Green State Lager and Dry hopped Post Shift today myself.

And a Parabola, because why not.

I’ve made my feelings known GSL. Dh post shift, for me, didn’t really improve over the base. Parabola, an all timer for me, was a letdown with this vintage that I had in the last few weeks.

For me, dry-hopped PS is fine. I’m a fan of the original version. It’s one of those beers that I typically pick up in a 12-pack and use as a go-to.

I’m sure Google would work just fine, but does Green State come in different formats? That’s a beer I’d enjoy having in the fridge the same way I do Post Shift or House or White.

Good to know, I was wondering whether they were doing the pickups of MtL yet. After I got my receipt the only thing I knew was "after they open back up" which they have but wasn't sure yet whether MA residents were welcome

We're technically supposed to be quarantining for two weeks if we go to ME. But I doubt anyone is enforcing it. Some hotels are, some aren't.

I'm not going to rush up there but maybe in a few weeks if things are going well. I did do a curbside pickup back in April up at MBC in Portland so I've already broken the rules a bit. I haven't been anywhere else since but felt a bit hypocritical afterwards since I've avoided everything else.

I think many are being a bit more relaxed about it in New England due to case load being so low at the moment.

I don't think they care as much about someone popping up to pick up beers. It's more people going to hotels and staying for vacation.

Ymmv in regards to availability, but for Boston area people looking to travel but also be comfortable they're not contributing to spread, I recommend getting tested. Given the protests it seems a lot of places are offering it for free until the end of next week, and honestly it's not too bad - not painful, <10 seconds of discomfort.

I brought this up to the woman at Oxbow who was helping me. I told her that I felt kind of uncomfortable driving through the familiar Portland roads. I was well-aware that I wasn't seeing any Mass or NH plates. She said, "You can pick up beer. We just don't want you going out clubbing."

My wife and I are going to Maine in July. We rented a cottage in Scarborough. She wants to be on the water for a week, and we’ve been doing this for years. (I typically drink my face off at the cottage while she sits on the beach). We decided to go through with C19 testing before the trip. We were able to schedule the tests easily, and we’ll have the test results about two days before we go. (We wanted to get tested about a month ago but our doctor wouldn’t do it. Now, it’s no problem. Tests are widely available.) If we test positive, which seems unlikely since we are very strict about following safety protocols, we’ll stay home instead of going on the trip.

Anyway, the cottage rental company is not requiring proof of a negative test result but is requiring that we sign a document attesting to having tested negative. So we could lie about it, but we figured we’d follow the regulations. It was easy to set up the test.

Looking forward to picking up my MtL bottles and other goodies.
