Saw this list of America's 40 Most Delicious Beers on my Google News feed. Of course no two people's lists are going to be identical (where is Fremont Coffee Cinnamon B-Bomb?), but, I've also seen worst lists—except for the fact that 21 of the listings are stouts (one porter, but close enough), 11 are IPAs, and all of the many other styles out there are represented by only the remaining 8 listings. The author acknowledges this in the intro. On the one hand this does reflect the heavy focus on these two styles (and their variants) in American brewing, but on the other hand it overlooks all the amazing variety of beers being produced these days. Thoughts? Cheers!

EDIT: Another thing I realized is that these beers come from only a handful of breweries. By my count (done hastily), four from Bell's, four from Toppling Goliath, and two each from Tree House, AleSmith, 3 Floyds, Lawson's, Goose Island, Founders, and Russian River. So in a country with 7,480 active craft breweries (according to the article) I find it inexcusable that so many listings come from such a short list of breweries.

Unfortunately only have had six in this list and mind you, from memory anyway I sampled about 150 good, great, outstanding or World-class American craft.

Seems like a very solid list tbh although list are always controversial.

Maybe someday, and for a change we should have a « list of the top 25/50 Europeans beers ».

We love you yanks but Europe has a say in the wider beer industry.

Couldn't agree more. This is a list of America's 40 best beers. I'll watch for some European author to produce a list of Europe's best beers, and to also please translate it into English. Cheers!

All these lists are subjective. That said, I clicked to make sure Heady was on it. #2. Yup. I'll give you some validity.

Let @shanex do it. Probably not many people who are better qualified.

When "delicious" doesn't automatically mean "high ABV", I'll be a happier beer drinker. Of course, I should shut up considering I've all but given up beer for whisk(e)y :stuck_out_tongue:.

An interesting list for sure. Thanks for posting!

Also, I appreciate the compliment but I’m no « Author » yet, though if I should ever publish a top 25 beers in Europe I’d gladly do so. Thanks.

Just compile the list and post it here, with help from @EmperorBevis, @JamFuel and @Snowcrash000 if you want. More people will see it here than the list on 24/7 Wall Street anyway, whatever that is. I’d love to see such a list and count how many I’ve been fortunate enough to try. Cheers!

Worth considering. If it’s to please the community we’ll pull a nice homework together soon and post it here.

Selecting an enumerated list of best beers via committee should make for an 'interesting' exercise.

If you regularly rate/review beers then you already have the start of your list. If the same beer appears near the top of multiple people’s lists, then that would be a sign that it should be included. I wouldn’t even say it needs to be ranked, just list 25 or 40 or 50 of your favorite European beers, what I’d refer to as your “desert island” beers. I hope you can make it happen!

Man, I wouldn’t know where to begin... but Carlsberg is probably the best beer in the world.

If you’re being ironic then you’ll be part of the project, if not... uhhh. Quite an odd swede you are.

I can't even get the list to come up. I'll guess it's a "round up the usual suspects list"!

I was just in Maine and walked away from Allagash River Trip in the coolers multiple times. Oops. I guess I missed a great beer.

Just quoting Carlsberg's slogan... This could be an interesting thing to do, would be fun to see what others feel are great European beers.
