Well, Friday was a letdown of a day after an otherwise decent week. Good thing is I have the weekend to get over it.


A little Czech Pils from Schilling Beer to wash down a snack from Olympia Provisions. Both tasting quite good at the moment. Not getting as much of a metallic note from the beer today, but it’s still in there.

My Grandfather's best friend (who was like another Uncle to me, and he just passed in May, though had alzhermiers) owned an airport and created one of the early training flight simulators for pilots of all kinds. After Rudy made is millions, he bought a bunch of WWII fighter planes. His favorite was a basically perfect condition Spitfire (at least thats what Rudy said, I won't know the difference ) His planes were used in a lot of movies though. Tora, Tora, Tora, the original Midway movie in the 70's, as wells as Stephen Spielberg's 1941. Whenever Spielberg needed good WWII plane for a move, Rudy was his guy for a while.

Here's to your disappointment being as mild as the beer itself! Have you had A Ship Full Of IPA by the way? It's been a few years since I've had it but I recall that one being closer to the American beers, a bit thinner and not as hoppy, as can be expected, but still a pretty good old school IPA.

 

Holy fuckfarts it's hot. No excuse to not drink a Bodem so excccuuuuuse me while I crush this.

Pratt & Whitney had much to do with the design of the Corsair. It was basically built around the 2200 horsepower monster air-cooled radial engine with a propeller to match, but took longer than anticipated to get right. Primarily with landing them on carrier flight decks. Land based Marines made MONSTERS out of them and the kill ratio to Japanese Zeros was phenomenal. Eventually some got a P&W R4360, 3000 HP. They never saw war service but they were intended to stop the kamikazes.



Built by Goodyear the F2G's are still around. Race 57 survives, Race 74 and my beloved Robert Odegaard, RIP.

 

Sounds about like how I remember it. I'm always curious to see how far the big guys are prepared to push the envelope, so I try the crafty brands that I come across. A few of them are quite decent for what they are.
