So I played a gig (I’m a musician) the other night at a restaurant with a very minuscule selection of beer. They had only 3 tap lines, one of which the tap handle said Ballast Point Limited. The people who work there don’t know beer so I didn’t bother to ask for specifics. I drank it. From what I could tell, it was an IPA and it tasted like Sculpin. It’s not on the BA database not is it on BP’s website. It is listed on Untappd though: https://untappd.com/b/ballast-point-brewing-company-limited-ipa/581894 Anyone seen this one around?
Based on the photos on Untappd, it seems like this is simply the name for a rotating draft handle at various locations. It shouldn't be added to this site, or any other site, as it's not an actual beer brand.
I'm sure the distributor was simply out of tap handles for whatever IPA you were drinking, and simply passed the "limited" handle to the account. It happens more often than you probably realize.
It was named in honor of the "Limited" among of profit Constellation was making after they bought Ballast Point for $1 Billion and sales kept falling until they sold it to some unknown outfit...
