Since I joined beer advocate in January 2016, I've had 1,000 different beers. Since I sometimes drink the same beer several times that is probably around 2,000 beers in total. Don't tell my Doctor. However, I think it is cool that beer advocate keeps track of how many different beers I've had, breweries, etc. There's a lot of other cool statistics as well.

    I've had 103 beer styles, 32 countries, 38 states, and I've written 840 reviews
The beer style I've had the most is American IPA (120)
The beer style I've had the most relative to how many there are is Lambik-Gueuze (11 out of 99 --> 11%)
I've had 63 of the beers on the top 250 list
I've had 74 of the beers on the top 250 fame list
I've had 109 of the beers on the top 250 popular list including all of the top 17
I've had 23 of the highest ranked beer of each of the 112 listed styles

I also assembled some statistics on my own:

As of 7/11-2020 there were 311,191 beers on the beer advocate

I took the difference between 3/28-2019 and 7/11-2020 and found that roughly 52,000 beers had been added since then. 40372 beers per year and 110.6 beers per day.

I think that one of the more fun things about the beer advocate is the statistics they provide. It makes beer drinking a true nerd experience.

I am wondering what people think about the statistics on beer advocate. What are your favorite statistics?

Much like advanced metrics in baseball, I like 'em, but don't necessarily understand 'em.

    I are no math major.

I enjoy seeing the stats, and it seems like @Todd is always looking for new ways to give them to us. https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...by-follow-local-poo-bahs-and-featured.643303/.

I'm amazed at the numbers that you included in your post about the number of new beer additions that this site receives. I add new beers when I add a new brewery or when I have a new beer from a favorite brewery, but the total site numbers make it look like I'm not adding my fair share. I'll just have to double down and find more.

I'm amazed that on average, you only drink the same beer twice!:grin:

Being a bit obsessive, stats amuse me. If we can get an Arkansas brewer to knock out a Happoshu, That'll give me all the styles (until Todd changes them) and all the states (until Puerto Rico is added)

That's not asking much is it? They can barrel age it if they want...

The statistics are really one of the features on BA I like. I'd never easily know I've had beer from 49 states (and when my Dad sends me beer from WV this week I can finally close that). Also just knowing which breweries I've had the most beers from, style preferences, and other not so obvious bits of information that is fun to look up.

That's interesting. I realize reading that I have not socialized enough her yet. About the added beers. Clicking the style, then on one of the beers, and then on the style again takes you to a page stating how many you had of this style and how many there are in total. You can see how it changes over time. It takes a little bit of time but you have to add the number for 112 styles to get the total.

Yes I intentionally try a new beer as often as I can. Most beers I've only had once. Then there are some I drink more frequently.

Only one style left. That is impressive. I have nine left and have a really hard time finding them.

49 and soon 50 states. That is quite impressive. I am at 38. I hope to get to 50.

I categorized my beer reviews into two groups, ales and lagers. I then utilized a Kruskal Wallis U test, as assumption of normality were violated, and determined that I have a statistically significant preference (p < .01) for lagers.

Nah, I'm just fucking with you. I've never reviewed a beer.

Wow, that’s a comprehensive list of statistics. I started an Excel spreadsheet in 2004, but have no real idea about the twenty odd years of legal drinking I did before that. Just a few things: 1) I’ve had a beer from 71 different countries. 2) I’ve had 132 of the 250 Beers Of Fame (although I have yet to add most of them here yet). 3) There are just over 3,000 beer in my database, so about 190 new beers per year. I’ve never really been a ticker.

The statistic I've always tracked in my head is the disproportion between the users I see in other threads as compared to the WBAYDN thread. This is not a knock, either. I just think it would be cool if we had a day where we all stood in solidarity and drank a beer together at the virtual bar. After all, I'm assuming everyone here drinks and enjoys beer, right?

    Cheers!!!

I’m more interested in my imaginary baseball stats, where the advanced metrics show I have a decent contact rate and power that’s good enough to take me to the warning track.

As an engineer I love statistics. However, my personal recorded beer stats aren't a very good representation of all the beers I try. Many times I'm "in the moment" with friends and the atmosphere and documenting my consumption is the the furthest thing from my mind.

As of today I have not reviewed 6 styles of beer. Of those, 3 are available in any store I was to walk into if I could be bothered to review them.

I love rDev. Shows me the extremes of my preferences in relation to others. Caveat, I dont rate nor review styles that I don't find appealing. My personal opinion is that I can't be fair to the brewer nor beer if I know I dislike the style. TETO
