CANBIF: From the Cellar, 2020!

Well, if it's beer you shipped, you'll be out of luck. Technically it's non mailable material, and is only shippable by registered sender's.

CP doesn't usually give a crap about this, but if it involves money, you can guarantee they will investigate every damn shipment before they pay a dime.

CP management is also laying all blame at the feet of the workers, which is total BS. They offered to work multiple shifts a day to ensure the volume kept moving. All they asked was a shift premium for late shift, management said no.

 

Box received this morning but I wasn’t able to open until just now. The wait was interminable!

Cabin Chapter 1 BA Wee Heavy. (Another brewery I’ve enjoyed before. Beautiful bottle!)
Four Winds CherryOperis. (Operis is a great beer. Can’t wait to get into this).
Blindman Pierre on Peaches (light saison with peaches? Sign me up!)

From what I can gather, public opinion on this seems negative. Sure, the delay warnings could be better worded, but they are there on the website and every box I’ve sent I was warned about possible delays.

 

I've got this box this week. It seems to be the same content from another member. I was smiling about it but good ones. I will be happy to enjoy them. Merci beaucoup !!

You weren't easy to shop for as you've clearly had access to Alberta shelves, I'm guessing you once lived out West?

 

Glad you liked it!! Both of you basically had the exact same preferences and you both have had many of the beers I was planning to send out East. The boxes started out very different but I kept noticing you had either tried or had access to stuff I planned on sending you, (even sending a bottle to your target that I had planned on sending you, Singularity) this way no one can say I played favorites either, LOL

 

I’ve only been to Alberta once and only had a couple beers while in Banff. Everything else was from trades and CANBIFs past. I’ve never been to BC. Likewise, all trades.

Great box. Thanks again. Glad to finally try some Bruery and I promise not to trade them away like all the ones I’ve Had in my possession before!

 

Work has been hectic and I have been staring at this huge box waiting to crack in. I am glad I waited to do the opening and fawning justice.

Here is what we have:
Oude Tart (2014) - The Bruery - Sour - Flanders Red Ale - even though it's almost 6 years based on the latest check ins it's still damn good. Will check it for sure.

Blushing Monk (2015) - Founders Brewing Co. - Fruit Beer - haven't tried this one before, but all the stuff I got from Founders was very decent. It's summer so let's get some fruit.

Cuvée Delphine (2012) - De Struise Brouwers - Stout - Russian Imperial - another bottle waits in a fridge for a special occasion. With two, it's much easier to decide to open it Haven't tried this brewery yet, but from what I heard, they are the best for stouts in Belgium.

Skeleton Key (2017) - Bellwoods Brewery - Stout - Imperial - it seems this bottle has an exciting story of a trip from Ontario to Manitoba and back. Big fan of the series. I have one of the 18s and a couple of 19s in my fridge. Should do a vertical.

Imperial Biscotti Break - Evil Twin Brewing - Stout - Imperial - I would say unbeatable classics for pastry stouts. Was on my wish list for a while. Tried a small pour in some fest. Will slowly sip this full bottle watching a sunset.

Thor's Hammer (2013) - Red Racer - Barleywine - American - barleywine is always a barleywine. It's always a good time for it.

 

whelp... due to some 'issues' my last box has finally hit the road eastward... I trust the wait will be worth it =)

 

You're welcome! Did I end up getting one of these from you by chance? I know we've traded in the past and I can't remember (be funny if I did!). I traded for so much Bellwoods stuff in the past that I have a surplus of their bottles (including this one) in my cellar. Don't ask me how many years (and multiples) of Grandma's Boy I have sitting waiting to be opened!

 

I received my box yesterday! Thanks to my sender, there was a good blend of big dark & barrel-aged beers, Belgian beers, and a cool funky Gewurztraminer saison (coincidentally I am buying a case of Gewcci from Rosewood winery today to distribute to friends)! All good things. Let's see if I can get my embedded image to work on the first try-- historically I have consistently failed in this department...



I think perhaps @ABeerHoarder may be my sender?? If so, thank you good sir! Good choices across the board.

 

I would love to get my hands on some Kuhnenn... lol, if there is ever any stuff on the east coast you want, give me a shout.
