    Second blind beer from @Justonemore91
    [IMG]

Poured a near clear pale straw color out of the can, looking slightly hazy in the glass with a fluffy white head. Like the blind one yesterday, the aroma was slightly fruity and somewhat sweet, like ?corn and fruity hops. The taste was Pilsner-like with assertive bitterness, floral/grassy hops and faint fruit on the finish but hard to pin down. Clean and dry. I'm guessing an IPL just like I guessed yesterday.

    Reveal:

Awesome! Another gem from Finback. A Pilsner with lychee and lemon zest. I totally get it now that I'm tasting it. So cool. Thanks again, Ray! Really great blind choices.

Blind Beer Number 2 from @y2kawakami

Look: Pours light brown and bright from the can. Appears light bodied. Barely translucent dark brown with some light brown highlights in the glass. A pinky finger of frothy, beige head. Pretty persistent and leaves spots of foam. Looks like a brown ale or dark lager. Nice looking beer.

Smell: Fresh hazelnut. Dominant sweeter malt aroma with some earthy hops. Milk chocolate, peanut brittle with the nutty and sweet caramel. Earthy and woody hop aroma.

Taste: A flash of malt sweetness on the tip of the tongue, and the beer quickly dries out with nutty, woody flavors and a hint of pithy bitterness. That lemon peel with espresso bitterness feeling. Maybe a little bit of traditional American bittering hops.

Feel: Medium level of carbonation and extremely smooth. A little sweet up front but it dries out quickly.

Overall: This beer is excellent. I think it’s an English style brown ale, which is one of my favorite styles. And this is one of better ones I’ve had.

    The Reveal

Makalilo Brown Ale. American Brown Ale. Thought it was English. Maybe should’ve known with the bitterness. Per Untappd:

An American Brown Ale with a kick from El Dorado hops, our Makakilo Brown has a nice medium body with mild, roasty flavors obtained from the grains used in the brewing process. The dark roast finishes dry with a touch of bitterness and fruit flavor.

Thanks, Sean. A great beer! I love Brown Ales!

Yes sir another one that I chugged. Finback gets a lot of love for their ipas and stouts but their pilsners are just as delightful. I'm glad you enjoyed it cheers

Root + branch were set to launch their taproom this summer but covid 19 happened. That hasn't stopped them from brewing great beer in pursuit of building their space. Loved that offering from them cheers

    ,
I was so looking forward to their opening. It will be about 15 min from my house. I passed by recently and it looks like they are back at work on the tap room.

Still have you on my radar but Hint 17 doesn’t look like it fits. Last Hint should apply with it being 111 degrees this Wed but thankfully no sunburn. Guess I’ll be surprised if you’re my 2nd sender.

You're one lucky guy. That's the one brewery I would love to live close too. The quality of beer the produce is outstanding. Definitely worth making the trip from the inner boroughs

Add to that, Sand City South will be about 5 minutes from them. I will be one seriously happy camper. Root ÷Branch is right by the LIRR station so it will be an easy trip from the city.

Well after spending all morning trying to get back into my BA account I am finally back in, at least they could keep me out!! Last night while cooking supper UPS dropped a glorious box from @Orca_Whale on my porch. My wife was wondering what was in there she figured it was nice based on my erection. I also think Bill won the food prize with what he enclosed!! I can only think he wants me to combine these with a certain cook book??

There were also some fucking amazing beers in the box.

    2017 Chocolate Rain
Alluvial Aurox BA Coconut Imperial Stout
2014 Fucking BC ) I drank my last one sometime this year I think??)
Barn Town Vanilla Drive in Milkshake IPA ( I have to say I was very impressed with the others that were sent in the first box).

    MMMH Casey
Casey Supreme Clientele 2020 Oak Aged ale with Apricots, Peaches and Vanilla
Casey Family Preserves Peach, Vanilla and Nectarine
Casey East Bank Preserves BBA Blackberry
Casey Dormeur Couper Sleeper Blend of the Cut w/ Nectarine.

Bill you have outdone yourself this box is amazing, I always send pics of the beer I get to my buddy and he was salivating over those Casey bottles. Imagine his surprise when he gets here Sunday and I am not opening them lol!!! Make them suffer, thanks again two amazing boxes. This group never ceases to amaze me at the generosity.

Gentlemen, @Buck89 has given me a right proper thumping. I can only conclude that John was both of my senders.

Quick reminder, this was box #1:

I foolishly mentioned to John that my wife and I had especially enjoyed the Chief of Chiefs. What does he do? Hits my wife with Box #2:

To quote an esteemed gentleman, "hide ya kids, hide ya wife". Super nice gesture that my wife really appreciated. And she is taking her ownership seriously: she drank the Mod Mode yesterday and didn't even let me taste it.

Which brings me to yesterday, and boxes 3, 4, and 5.

First, a bunch of brews from Barrique, a Nashville brewery that wasn't on my radar at all but after some research has me all hot and bothered:
Freeman Noble Red - Flanders with muscadine grapes
Summertime Sipper - watermelon peach sour (!)
Dual Estates: Blues & Grapes - blueberry grape sour
Fleur De Nuit - wild ale with hibiscus
Barrel Stacks - schwarz lagered in wine barrels - this is fascinating.
And a blind beer, which I'm also throwing here due to the bottle shape. John has helpfully indicated that the ABV is somewhere between 3&14%.

Next, some great sounding stuff from some of Nashville's finest:
    Southern Grist:
C3 - collab with Bottle Logic, stout with coconut, cinnamon, and cacao
Impulse Buy - zagnut inspired stout with coconut and peanut butter (!)
Reboog Roadtrip - stout/ braggot with wildflower honey, blackberries, and peanut butter. Wow this sounds interesting.
    BA Vanillionaire - holy wow.

    Bearded Iris:
Fine Print: rye BA stout with coconut and coffee
All Business: Vic secret imperial IPA
    V. Latte with El Locho coffee - I was lucky enough to have a variant of this in the past and loved it

    Continuing on...
    Yazoo:
Never Say Never Again - sour Belgian dark strong ale aged in Sherry casks before transferring to bourbon, Merlot, and Tennessee whiskey barrels before reblending. Wow.
    Barleywine (!)
Tickets Paradise - Brett ale in second use peach Brandy oak - very cool

Creature Comforts Booger Hill - biere de garde with local honey - love CC and a good biere de garde
De Garde The Vanille Kriek - if this wasn't a want it should have been. So my jam.
Monday Night Brewing Breakfast Ante Meridiem - BBA imperial brown with coffee and vanilla - I think this is a new brewery for me
Living Waters Brewing Alma - DDH DIPA with Galaxy and citra - I think this is another new brewery

Last but certainly not least, the swag, booze, and food:

Sweet #pgw from Southern Grist and Bearded Iris, bourbon brittle, duck fat caramels, Belle Meade Sherry cask finished bourbon, and a shot of underneath for when I inevitably overindulge. I believe I've had a Belle Meade Eclipse, but never the bourbon itself and I'm excited to try it.

John, I can't thank you enough for all of this. I love the local focus, the variety of styles, and the thoughtfulness of your selections. This is going to keep me busy for a while, and I can't wait to work my way through it. Cheers!

@NorthStateCustomCraft dropped a bomb on my porch yesterday. I got lucky and guessed some numbers right-ish so this is the first of two boxes for the LIF from him and @Snrubnivek (mine will be up tomorrow night). Onto the beers from Bill.

    From L to R:
Honey pepper beef jerky. Bag’s half gone and won’t make it through the night.
RR: Happy Hops IPA. New tick for me. RR hops are always welcome in my fridge!
3F: Oude Kriek. Looking forward to revisiting this one.
Sierra Nevada: Chico Beer Enthusiasts Batch 2. Imperial stout with hazelnuts, coffee and maple syrup. This sounds amazing.
Ninkasi Brewing: BBA Ground Control. This sounds great!
Firestone Walker: Krieky Bones. Sour with cherries is my jam!
RR: Piney for Prez - fuck yes. Didn’t think I would get to try this and didn’t want to ask anyone because I know you guys will blow my porch up for a simple request.

Thanks Bill! This box is great and I can’t wait to dig into these beers.
