I don't think FSDDC is as juicy as Julius is/was (to be fair it's been a while for me) but the follow through is pretty similar.

Nice beer for sure, it's got a sharp mouthfeel and hop bite that I like in a NE IPA.

Finishing my first can now. I came here to say prettying much the exact same thing. I’m someone that typically enjoys the hop bite, and this comes off a bit strong by the end of the can. Definitely going to keep a couple to try next week.

haha, that doesn't sound like julius at all, from the few batches I've been able to try.

I've had Julius fairly recently, including the various permutations of it, and I don't think it's the same beer as FSDDC. Maybe some similarities, but definitely not the same. They're both excellent though. I would say FSDDC has a much bigger malt backbone to it. Regardless, we're all spoiled with our beer options.

Ever since members of this community started comparing Pliny to Terrazzo, I’ve been worried.

I am one of those people and I stand by it. It's the closest beer I've had to Pliny in a while.

Hold on, are we talking super-fresh-right-from-the-tank Pliny, day-old Pliny, week-old Pliny, or the stuff that you’d find on most shelves and is basically undrinkable trash? I was just in the Pacific forum and apparently Pliny has the steepest drop off of any beer ever brewed and is also totally overrated. I’m sure I’ll be disappointed but I’m trying to figure out how disappointed I’ll be, just in case I ever happen to find a place selling Terrazzo.

I was worried way before then. Maybe about the time the guy passed out in a Porta John at LP Binnys on Black Friday. But your point is duly noted sir!

Julius is quite an extreme stretch but this is a very good beer.

MASCARENE DIPA. Coming in highly recommended, surround yourself in tropics. Available now Curbside or on draft in the garden. https://t.co/507biGuUt8

I'm getting some fresh Julius this week so I'll be able to drink them side by side and put my money where my mouth is or some other folksy saying.

If you really want to go for it, drink the two of them together with a third NE style IPA. But have someone else pour all three into red solo cups so you don't know which is which, and then rate them that way.

I don't need to rate them or drink them blind. I just need to drink them side by side and see how close in flavor, mouthfeel, and aroma they are. I don't prefer one over the other. I'm saying that FSDDC is on the same level as Julius.

In all fairness, you said they were essentially the same beer, not that they were on the same level.

Grabbed a 4 pack today picking up my OH cans. The FSDDC cans were cold so I'll be drinking those tonight.
