99% sure we stopped by Hi-Wire a few years ago on a trip to Asheville, after hitting [pre-buyout] Wicked Weed - I’m not sure they’d been around too long at that point. Now they’re delivering a beer or two up to us.

Has a little haze to it, but a toasty malt profile with a bit of honey, grapefruit, pith, and a slight tang. A little like a WC IPA except with a lower bitterness level and that tang; somewhat like an ESB except for the hop profile; overall not bad.

Apparently this tropical storm was upgraded to a hurricane, which is making for a very gloomy and rainy day in Houston. Oh well, its just a few rain clouds anyway, there was several inches of rain here last week in an afternoon of just regular storms, so no big deal ha.

Nick Drake and 512 Pecan Porter for a gloomy afternoon.

Today July 25, 2030, is a great day to return to our home town brewer, Carton, for what's new, and, never disappointed, it's Whip (Pilsner), Battle of Monmouth (Keller) and a new Wedge (edition of DIPA). All cold fresh, served up by Zoe, and there's nothing that beats a return home (see Ulysses/Odyssey), and fresh home town craft.
    a) The lightest, palest yellow glowing body, streaming an inverse rain of fine bubbles, sporting a creamy lasting, white lace cap - clearly the best looking Pilsner ever seen by me. A must for Pilsner Fans.
    s) Canned 2 days ago, this is as fresh as it gets, and brings a more powerful noble grassy aroma led by Crystal, Mt Hood, Liberty hops on a malt body of German malts.
    t) taste fills the mouth with subtle champagne like flavors. Lemon, grass, hay, straw, farm yard, fresh baked bread still not quite done and soft in the middle.
    f) Creamy, without any weight, like a lovely culinary foam. without the brewer's notes I associate it with whipped foam.
    o) Lighter, brighter than any top Pilsner shipped across an ocean, drink fresh, drink home town, and this is the best Pilsner experience ever, of which my Dad would be proud.
(I recall how lovely pilsner were in Luxembourg and Belgium and Berlin... fresh on tap, brewed yesterday, this tops those!)

Great Ketch could be a full bodied, full 8% version of great India Pale Lagers.
    a) Hazed, straw, bright body, that sports an active, lasting, fizzy, lace-gushing head.
    s) Abundant. Pine, Papaya, orange, peppercorn, and sunny, salty boardwalk.
    t) Very big: pine, gooseberry, orange rind, over white cracker malt and intense batch of fruit punch but tempered by the sharp, zing pepper. Nice big salty flavorful see-saw.
    f) Smooth, and finished crisp. Bright, slightly sticky, upbeat. peppery finish.
    o) So much going on but it worked for me.

Poured from 22oz into .5l cylinder and into a wine glass to compare.
Pale, clean, IPA-like - this beer is world-class.
A: Poured like a pilsner, a lemony golden hue with medium haze, the pilsner golden colors are a delight and true to form. White head, good lace, never seen a beer like it. I like it. (I am typical single IPA hop head ale / APA man.)
S: Inviting! Acute, clean, light grassy aromas of hops with white grapefruit, lemon zest, grassy, and herbal elements. Light rind/zest aroma derive from hops, no expectation of alcohol at all. A bit of laid back white-bread, cracker malts faintly in the background. I find it all adds up nicely.
T: This beer made for crabs, seafood, fra diavolo. (And from DE no surprise). This beer should be in every fish joint from Key West to Calais Maine.
A clean, light fruit sweetness accompanies the baguette, crackery, grainy mix. This beer centers on a great mix, an UNCONFUSING BALANCE of grass vs citrus, sweet vs spice, floral vs hay - all combined with a nice hop zing. No false notes, this is pitch perfect, and finishes clean with grassy hop bitterness.
MF: also totally original. It's a pilsner, light on its feet. Light textured w moderate carbonation. Beautiful, (great with food) dry, crisp finish of hop bitterness and lightness. Astringency delights your mouth like a bone dry white burgundy, and a light grainy, light hop bite.
I found this beer, a collaboration by great brewers whilst in Italy, to be a world classic. I wish it was in steady supply. A new favorite of mine. I wish it came in cans too. Beautiful with food, beautiful in summer. Hop heads and as well as all craft fans must try this original pilsner.

Pleased to be 1st review of Pilzn.
It's cozy and tasted like a fresh pilzner found in Germany or Luxembourg.
    a) Bright, dreamy, creamy lasting head that laces over golden body.
    s) Lemony, bright, big, noble hops.
    t) Follows aroma, more, more than you can imagine in a simple "white" beer.
    f) Creamy and lemony, drying finish.
    o) A key to pilsner is to drink it fresh, no better than at the brewer.

Happy Saturday, BAs. I’m at COHO Brewing in Cape May Court House NJ, drinking Five-Oh, a Blonde Ale with pineapple. The pineapple is obvious but not overly sweet and the Willamette hops add a nice spicy bitterness. It’s great on a hot summer afternoon.

Gorgeous pale yellow body; very active carbonation; somewhat thin yet lasting white head, rather creamy. Excellent floral and herbal aroma with a faint note of light grain. The taste follows along the same lines as the aroma with a nicely balanced hop bitterness presence. Light to medium body; fairly crisp on the palate; leans towards the dry side of things.

This beer is a nice offering, refreshing and satisfying.
