Well, I cracked one last night.

I'll tell you what - if that was a diminished product because I had it shipped to me in the summer, then you guys are apparently wizards, because Darkness at Noon is probably one of the best IPAs I've had in quite some time. Literally couldn't believe it was a 10%er. So, my compliments to the chef.

Holy shit I just have to echo everything you said. I rarely get R+B, but I've really enjoyed the ones that I've been lucky to come across. Darkness at Noon is just smooth as silk hop juice without that overbearing sweetness that most triples tend to get. I wish I could drink more of your stuff @xenjoiii and thank you @guinness77 for the can.

    Glad to hear!

A similar sentiment has been shared on both Assayer / DaN regarding the absence of cloying sweetness. Most brewers are adding dextrose/cane sugar to boost ABV, and maltodex / milk sugar to increase density in TIPA. It serves its purpose but yields excessive booziness and sweetness. There are better ways.

I couldn't agree more. Makes me yearn for more R+B. Though I still have an Anthora to go.

Citra Spectacle is actually delicious, one of best Citra beers I have ever had. Hopefully this can be made again and the greatness is replicated.

    Glad to hear!

I'm going to be brewing more regularly out of Evil Twin moving forward - some entirely new beers + some old favorites of mine, on top of what we're brewing at GSB. The city will be seeing monthly-ish releases.

Unsurprisingly, this batch of Dome of Heaven is great. The brick & mortar can't come soon enough.

    Cheers!

For all you NYC folks, we had about ~5 cases of Dome that were never picked up at GSB. They should be popping up at Haymaker sometime this week.

On the brick and mortar front, don't hold your breath.

Sucks COVID hit...happy to hear of the plans with Evil Twin over coming months. Consistently high quality beers...not something other breweries can say so much recently.

Galaxy Spectacle was great, wish I'd bought more!

Did the Dome cans ever make it into the city? Had it on draft at St Gambrinus but didn't see a Haymaker sale.

    they did not.

7 cases were reported as not picked up to us by GSB, so we scheduled 12% to send them all to Haymaker. When 12%’s truck made it to GSB to pick up the beer, there was no beer to be found at the brewery...

Anyone else have a bad can of Galaxy Spectacle? I had one that was brown and tasted terrible.

My apologies. This is the first I’ve seen / heard of on this batch. We’re pretty diligent with QC, but it’s impossible to catch every single can that’s not in proper spec. Anyhow, it’s not acceptable and we will raise the issue with the mobile canning company used at Evil Twin.

As always, if you had a bad can, you can reach out directly and we’ll replace the beer - either with the same batch (if we have inventory left) or with free cans of the succeeding release.

I had one the other night, first two cans in the four pack were great, but this one was brown and undrinkable.

Man, I had like a whole case go bad but won't be able to make it out for a while. Any chance you guys can deliver to Brooklyn?

Jk, I've never had an oxidized beer by Root and branch. Paulie Gee's slice shop was my reliable draft spot pre COVID, can't wait to start getting them again!

    Thanks for the mini-Heart attack.

I will say it’s disheartening to come across posts on oxidized cans. I work extremely hard on the beers that I brew - it’s not easy task working around different variables at different facilities. Evil Twin is easy for me, brewing wise. I manage the facility. I commissioned the entire brewery from equipment install to the first brews. I know the system way more than I know the system at GSB. Making my beer on it and cellaring it is a breeze. However, with packaging at Evil Twin is a bit more challenging, as we’re working with a third party mobile canning company. At GSB, we had ONE dissolved oxygen issue in 2.5 years - mainly because we work with the same person while packaging our beer - they know the beer and how to properly run it through the canning line to achieve proper fills and foam.

Over the past 6 months, at Evil Twin, there has been several employee changes within the canning company we work with. Each change brings new issues: they show up late; they show up without equipment; they leave equipment behind after working (which ultimately becomes the next brewery’s problem); new employees are being trained to use equipment on your beer; some employees play on their phones or are outside smoking instead of paying attention to what’s going on; some trained employees are resistant to your requests; etc etc. It is immensely frustrating to say the least - especially when the liquid in the brite tank is dialed to specification and in the most ideal condition for canning.

With that being said, our name is on the package and I will always bear the responsibility of upholding the integrity our work. If anyone else comes across any issues - DM me a photo and I will make it right.

    Best,
    Anthony

    Sorry!

Damn you 2020! Pulling it right off the brite tank needed to be the new mouth pour.

I kid. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we're excited for you to have your own spot up and running so you have more control over every aspect of operation.

Also when are we going to get some more collabs?! Another Threes would be great: "Everybody stands behind their own illogical conclusion." What about Grimm? You guys seem like you'd vibe, some kind of non compete with ETNYC?
