My last can of The Benwood. That did not last long.

Perhaps my choice of glassware is making it obvious how much I want to go back to New England ...

Getting into it with some Fully Saturated Double Daisy Cutter from Half Acre. Thanks for this one, @mschrei. I will preface what I'm about to say with the following: I love Daisy Cutter; however, Double Daisy Cutter, not so much. Here's another iteration from Half Acre that really doesn't build on the original recipe at all. The prominent notes I'm getting in the aroma are wet leather, expensive shoe polish, and a melange of citrus where nothing in particular takes center stage. This isn't horrible by any stretch, but it simply does not work for me. Now BAs, you may say, Hunter, that's rude. No, it's not. I'm being honest. My trade partner didn't brew the beer; rather, he sent it to me because he thought I might enjoy it. I'm thankful. I don't expect everyone to like every Tree House beer along with the other hazy bullshit I send, but at the end of the day, I'm guessing that they're pretty pleased for the opportunity. I love you...

I got an near equal number of “my style” beers and GF-preferred beers this weekend. Apparently not good enough as we got a big Aslin delivery today.

I was thinking these might not be the freshest, but this Ayinger Pils is tasting damn fine, regardless.

13% abv, brewed with pecans, wheat and rye, 1/4 aged in bourbon barrels

Dark, roasty, chocolatey, nutty, toasty, boozy bourbon, pecans, grainy rye spice, dried dark fruits, with some hops balancing. Haven't had this beer in a while. I remember loving this the first time I had it, and it was one of the first stouts I saw with some real interesting ingredients in it, pecans, wheat and rye new to me at the time, and partially bourbon barrel aged. Even a few years old this is still pretty good. Cheers everyone! :fire:

Peace to my brotha, @mschrei for this one. Upon first smell, the Strata hops are really coming through nicely. Advocates, on another note, we have talked about non-beer related things at the bar before. I'd be interested to know some recommendations for mom & pop chip brands from your particular state. I can tell you personally that PA is rampant with small brands that lack national distro that I would put up against any of the big brand chips you see in most grocery stores. I know that in my 22 years in the Navy, that's one of the things I missed most. Hunter, did you just give away your real age? I don't give a f*ck. Anyhow, the brand I'm nominating is Good's out of little old Adamstown, PA. You can't go wrong with the red or the blue bag. Amazing chips all around. You simply can't have just one. What say you? Let me know! Cheers...

Well, that first Ayinger didn’t last long at all. So to slow myself down, I decided to have two beers together

Reused the Ayinger glass for its second. The Bavarian Pils in it is a clear golden once chill and humidity leave. The comparative von Trapp Pilsner (proclaimed Czech-style) is a hazed straw color. Noses aren’t too dissimilar, both light and generally bready - maybe a tad more hops from vT, but a better complimentary nose from Ayinger.

Ayinger is cleaner by a tad and smoother (less carbonation, softer malt feel). von Trapp has a snappier hop presence, grassy with a hint of spice; Ayinger has a little more nuanced hop profile, Noble in general nature.

Ayinger is a tad sweeter but is solidly constructed. von Trapp demands a little more of my palate, but is as enjoyable in its own right as always. Today, in this moment, however, I’d want another Ayinger.

I could stay inside cool or semi sweat in this heat outside with a beer. Obviously chose the latter.[IMG]
