Half Acre (2020)

It's been a few years since I've had Julius. I won't be able to provide any kind of comparison. Also I don't have a sophisticated palate like a lot of you. It's either very good, good or bad.

 

Well, we didn't get any FSDDC in our last HA Drop out West, but did get the usuals (Tome, Bodem, Daisy).
In the meantime, a little cheers, and a hope and wish into the bucket that a return visit to my favorite brewery will be possible in 2021.

 

Tonight on the weekly Fervent Few Zoom call I’ll be drinking Julius and FSDDC side by side. I’ll report back.

 

Alright here's the deal. They are very very similar. FSDDC has a more intense aroma especially as it warms. And Julius has more chew in the mouthfeel. But as far as taste goes they are nearly identical.

 

Sounds like someone missed out on Kodak stock yesterday and is trying to make up for it by increasing the trade value of FSDDC.

Last time I ordered them, I was like “why didn’t I order more?”

 

While FSDDC is delicious it's noticeably maltier than Julius which makes sense seeing as its base is a malty pale ale.

 

Please don't talk about Daisy Cutter like that.

 

Picked up another 4’er of FSDDC and it is drinking even better than two weeks ago. Probably best beer I’ve had this year.

 

Dear Ann Landers,

I love the hell out of DDC and the variants I've gotten like galactic and capra. Now if I happen to be the kind of person who says things like "Not a fan of NEIPAs" or "haze beers melt my guts with unassailable heartburn," will I or will I not like FSDDC? I know Half Acre's haze beers are talked about on here as being like hybrids of NE and WC IPAs and I have enjoyed things like Beer Hates Astronauts from them as I don't get 'hop burn' despite the turbidity. I'm feeling a bit left out but also on the fence.
