I was hanging in Portland, ME this weekend. I had an Oxbow Farmhouse Pale Ale. Also found Allagash Coolship Pêche on tap at Slab. Delicious!

Per my shady backroom deal, we get one Saison thread, so it won't update. My goal is to curate it so that it's always near the top (especially heading into the weekend and Saturdays).

BTW, I've never had Bernice and your description is making me want one. I don't care if it's 8 am on a Monday.

I can't overstate how many times I've passed FPA up at my local. Then, when I do pick up a four-pack, think "shoot, i need this in my life more often."

Just had a few Allagash Saisons recently and forgot how good it was. It's good to have a 4 pack saison easily available that isn't as heavy as Hennepin or Tank 7 (both great beers, but I have been wanting saisons a bit lower in abv than those as of late).

Unlike many craft beer drinkers (BA or casual), I try to keep the consumption between 4-6% and that probably makes up 90% of my consumption.

Oxbow tends to fill this niche pretty well with their saisons, and even if it’s around 6.5% I’m happy to have one, but I feel like that’s on the higher end for them.

I spoke with a brewery owner today about #SaisonSaturday and we chatted for a minute about doing like an IG live chat about a beer (nothing crazy, kind of just having a beer with a “friend”). Thought it seemed interesting. Would this be something BA’s would watch? I’m pretty handsome.

Tomorrow is the day. It's another #saisonsaturday.

    What's everyone drinking?

I've picked up Bluff from Plan Bee, but there are a few other options in the basement.

Headed to Fox Farm today so it will either be Freckled Fields or the new one, Leeway.

    Perhaps it should be BOTH!

Would love to but this old man is only good for two beers a night (one 750). Then a little Northern Lights oil to drift away.

Maybe Saison Sunday for the encore.

Haha, I'm getting there too my friend, but it's two of us splitting these beautiful beers. Our move is two great beers, one of us passes out from the lack of sleep (three kids under six), and, if I'm the one awake, I may open one more beer -- but I typically keep it around 5% anyway. On nights I'm feeling particularly sassy, I'll make a gin and tonic ... then promptly fall asleep.

East Tennessee has some nice Saison action going on. Blackberry Farm Brewery in Maryville, Tennessee makes some excellent examples, which I recommend. For me, a local brew!!

Their standard saison is phenomenal. I wish they were available in NJ.

Their “Classic Saison” is a classic example of a Farmhouse Ale, very enjoyable.
I was gifted 2x cans so, I can’t speak to distro in this area.

    Cheers.

We decided on a nice little lineup today.

Starting with a classic: Fantome Saison. Nice little serendipity. Running an errand for my wife and there was a sign on the door, “Be back in 20.” Well, friends, 20 minutes was just enough time to walk 250 yards or so and check out the saison selection at the nearby store. Three Fantomes! Went with the original though this almost definitely means I’m heading back to the store again.

Next up, Jackie O’s Elle a foudre ages saison. Finally, trying out Shire from western Mass and their farmhouse. Cheers to #SaisonSaturday

Lineage Spelt, a wild saison brewed with pilsner malt and raw spelt, aged in oak casks

I believe this bottle is from 2017, it has no date though. I first tried this in 2018 and left this bottle to age. Definitely on the tart/sour puckery side, a bit acetic/vinegary, vinous with white wine notes, white grape skin, kiwi, apricot, zesty lemon, some bready malt, raw spelt coming through like whole grain bread flavor, earthy herbal hops, all bundled in a nice toasty oak cask that I can only presume held white wine in it previously, with some lingering farmhouse notes, spice, hay and straw. Good head retention still sticking around, slightly hazy gold appearance. Aromas are almost lambic-esque and barnyard-like, the cold temperature right now might be covering that up a bit but I'm definitely getting some light barn-like notes, maybe a hint of horse blanket as this opens up more. Feels lighter medium bodied, creamy and crisp with moderately high carbonation. Still digging it, a bit acidic and all, I think they might have improved their later wild ale batches in the small 330ml bottles, and this is still good for a wild style. Cheers! :beers:
