Per their twitter they closed the parking lot adjacent to the building and set it up like a patio/beer garden. I am not sure, but am assuming they'll keep that set up for the time being along with reduced capacity indoor dining which starts today.

That looks pretty nice! Not sure the dining area of BL is the best ventilated area in the world so I’ll do the patio this week.

I looked at my check ins and apparently I had the Stiegl at The Beer Temple (no surprise) last summer and really enjoyed it. Based on the pic, you could fool someone into thinking it was a hazy IPA just on appearance

Not a huge help for beers, but on the topic of goulash. Restaurant 016 a bit north from there up Lincoln, which opened early this year, had a really nice Serbian goulash. The chievapi and grilled meatballs were also crazy tasty and now I'm thinking about ordering some of that for take out to go with the mix of lagers in the fridge.

Laschet's is one of my favorite places in the city. Their food is great, and their German beer selection is too. They almost always have a German Zwickl on tap. Also, they give you a free shot of schnaaps with your meal!

I grabbed the Solemn Oath/Austin Beerworks collab Lager for drinking while grilling tomorrow. I'll report back on how it is.

Thought this would be of interest. Beer Temple is doing a competition to find the best readily available pilsner in Chicago.

    And the 8 finalists:

No big surprises there, never had Tiny Bomb but the rest are all great Pilsners. I think Pilsner Urquell would be there if it were fresh enough, but we are often drinking it several months old.

Yeah I wonder how many judges could tell it was Pivo, even being blind.

I’ve been following this as well. Agree on PU. And while I love that PW’s made it, I’m surprised Pulaski made it over Fader, or even Flywheel for that matter. But can’t argue with it overall.

I think Fader is just too light in comparison. The others have more of a hop presence.

I haven't had Tiny Bomb nor Mama's Pils in at least 5 years, but don't recall them being any type of standout so I was pretty surprised by both of those.

Yeah, I’m having a Pulaski now and it’s fine, but hard to imagine this as a top-8 in that field. It has a REALLY nice aroma, but also an overpowering lemon taste that pushes everything else into the background.

I always think of Fader as the ultimate “more than the sum of its parts” beer. I don’t think it stands out on any single characteristic but it’s easily one of my favorites in terms of the overall experience.

I have a vote for Rev Pils, especially at the price point.

Beer Temple has a home kit ($20) for the pils blind tasting finalists.
    • 1 can or bottle of each of the 8 finalists in our Pilsner Search
    • Materials and instructions needed to perform a blind tasting at home (This is not a requirement, but we highly encourage everyone to perform the judging blind).
    • A link to an online form to submit the results of your tasting.
Pre-Orders will be ready for pick-up, and begin shipping Tuesday, August 4th
