So I completely whiffed on picking up 2 releases thinking I had an extended window due to COVID. Is my only choice to email hoping to get a refund?

When this happened to me in the past, they emailed back offering a refund. They indicated that the bottles were put into distribution but if I had alerted them prior to the pickup window closing that they would have Made arrangements to hold the bottles for me a bit longer.

Opened my bottle of Prodigal Physics tonight and I can see why people would be disappointed. The strawberry is a bit muted and medicinal tasting. It's still a fine beer, but probably the weakest FO varient they have bottled. 4.25 on untappd seems about right to me.

I've always felt that strawberries gave off a Band-Aid medicinal flavor and I've never been able to find anything that doesn't have that flavor in a beer

By whiffed, I mean I forgot to tell my proxy to pick up before the window closed. BL already refunded. Oh well it's just beer, maybe I will find it in Distro

Find this to be prominent in sours featuring strawberries save for a select handful of standouts that hit that delicate balance for me personally.

On the stout front, find it more muted in the + rated neopolitan stouts I've had, maybe the phenols less attenuated than in a sour environment.

If they used artificial flavoring people would tar and feather them, even though it'd probably taste more like what everyone is actually pining for.

Does anyone have any experience with BL crowlers and how long they last? I know breweries say to drink within a couple of days but...
I had a crowler of Deadblow last night and dammit if that wouldn’t be a perfect sitting in my backyard on Thanksgiving day smoking a turkey beer. I’m thinking of going and picking up another but not sure if it will hold up 4 months.

A couple years ago, I bought a Pie vs. Pie crowler and didn’t get around to opening it for like 6 months and it was perfectly fine. It’s definitely an “at your own risk” type situation though.

What do we think of the $36 TG stout collab? It was on tap a few days ago - anyone try it out?

    But it's GEISHA...

As a coffee stout (and double mashed!) I trust BL and TG both, so I'm personally looking forward to it.

However, I don't see the point of putting Geisha coffee in a beer. Personally, after having every iteration of Horus Geisha coffee-adjuncted stout, I've found there are other amazing/better-tasting coffee stouts that don't use overly these expensive beans and still taste as good or better than the coffee flavors in Horus beers for lower price points.

$36 is steeper than the usual fare but I’m looking forward to being able to try a TG stout in some capacity. It sounds good.

As an avid craft coffee drinker I have no problem splashing out $20 for a 12oz bag on a weekly basis, but I've never purchased an 8oz tin of Geisha for $50. My palate is almost certainly not sophisticated enough to appreciate the subtlety and nuance in the cup, and at those prices I'm okay with that.

Agreed. And it’s not even a bad price. TG charges $50 for Mornin’ Delight which is not even BA and $100 for KBBS which is only a 12oz. Compared to TG’s offerings this is a steal.

I can only imagine the price of this beer if it was released in TG.

At least both breweries had the sense not to put some hazelnut creamer in it.

$36 is ridiculous. I’ll pass. The beer sounds great but personally I have to draw the line.
