    @BeerCruncher - is this the second release of sanctuary 15? Why the ABV shift? Aren’t all sanctuary projects just the one barrel? In honor of 2020 trying to destroy us all, can you please make a 30% one off and call it Dystopias?

    Tried to have a 2016 Bean Gene this weekend. Total Gusher. Whole bottle gushed out. When I had a sip at the end, it was terrible. Rotten cherries. Did these have issues, or was this a one off? Bottled 11-17-16. Back when they came in the cardboard boxes. Luckily I was outside, so no clean-up, except my tee-shirt. I have one more Jan 2017 Straight Jacket I'm feeling nervous about. Will drink the next time I see some buddies.

    I believe all the barrel aged "Gene" series was discontinued b/c of issues they were having. Your Straight Jacket, however, should be fine.

    The Genes and Very Made Cow were the ones that were mostly infected. That said, some years aren’t. I had a ‘15 Blue Gene and ‘13 Mean Gene in December. The Blue Gene was infected, the Mean Gene was not (though very much past its prime). Unfortunately, I still have quite a few of these bombers left from when I thought verticals were a good idea.

    SJ and and Deth’s Tar didn’t have the same infection issues, though I thought there may have been one bad year of DT. Could be wrong on DT though.

    Rev seemed like they were having a lot of quality control issues with barrel-aging back then (14/15/16). I know I had a run of terrible Gene & Very Mad Cow bottles. I stopped drinking all of their beers for 2+ years due to a lack of any response when I contacted them. They won me back over but I don't think they'll ever be my favorite brewery in town.

    It seems like they have their qc down on Deep Woods these days, couldn't they just bring back the Gene series with the upgraded sanitzation controls and call the series Acid Washed Genes?
