I know, it's cool to hate pumpkin beers. But I really like them, if they're done well. Sadly, it can be hard to find really good ones. Maybe that's why "everyone" hates on them.

    Some of my favorites are:

    Southern Tier Pumking
    Schlafly Pumpkin Ale
    DogFish Head Punkin

Unfortunately DFH is the only one we get in distro here, so I'm left experimenting every year.

Help me out. What are your favorite pumpkin beers? Even if you're cool and hate them, do you secretly have one you really like?

Come on, I won't tell anyone...

Finally got my hands on some Cigar City Good Gourd. Looking forward that one once the temps drop below 90 here in New England.

    Night Owl
    Punkuccino
    The Great Pumpkin

Count me in as someone who enjoys pumpkin beers--well, pumpkin pie flavor beers. A regional favorite is Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale (brewed by Stevens Point).

Do you get any Elysian? Their pumpkin beers have all been very good.

It is unequivocally the only style of beer I genuinely dislike. Having said that, ST Pumking is the best of a bad batch IMO, at least among those I have tried.

Before they sold out, they would make dozens of different pumpkin beers each year. It was one of Dick Cantwell's pet projects.

I saw Warlock in my bottle shop last week, I want to revisit this year after passing bye previous few "Falls." I'm also hoping we get Whole Hog pumpkin...I remember that one always being great. If we get Elysian in and the price is right I might pick up a couple of their labels. Since I'll most likely be home through end of year, I'm feeling this is the Fall of Pumpkin and Fest beers for OMK.

I may actually grab one of the Elysian Pumpkin Packs this year. It includes Night Owl, The Great Pumpkin, Punkuccino, and Dark o’ the Moon. If you like pumpkin beers, those are four of the best. I usually grab one sixer of Schlafly Pumpkin, but not this year if I grab the Elysian variety pack.

The one I enjoy most is DFH as well. Haven’t had it in a while but I remember enjoying it more than most. All this talk of pumpkin beers, I think I’ll grab a four pack this year when I see it.

I love pumpkin beers with the caveat that it's in the 50s and past September 21st. That being said most of widely distributed pumpkin beers are coming out in the dog days of summer. So, I've really gravitated towards the pumpkin beers put out by local microbreweries, that for the sake of sounding like a Williamsburg hipster craving pickles brewed with fresh gutter water, reclaimed pickles and salt, can name the local farm that sources their pumpkin. Shout out to the breweries that are using this season's harvest.

    1) Brown's Brewing Wholly Moses
    2) Mad Jack's Upstate Harvest

Other's that I'm fond of that add a bit more spice/chocolate/maple depth have been

    1) Captain Lawrence Imperial "Rye"der
    2) Mill House Pop's Imperial Maple Pumpkin Ale

It helps that New York produces a good amount of pumpkins.

I grabbed that last year and was very happy I did. All very good as you suggest.

Another solid offering is Post Road Pumpkin Ale by Brooklyn. Or at least it has been.

I know that Pumpkin/Pumpkin Pie beers don't get a lot of love on here and I know that the number made has dwindled in recent years, but the ones that were on the shelf here in the Twin Cities disappeared quite quickly.

We just got Cigar City distro a few months ago and have a ton of SKUs. I'll look for it. Thanks!

We get Elysian, but I think I've only seen
Space Dust. I'll keep an eye out for it.

That's sounds awesome and an automatic buy if I see it. @jdell15

Yes to Pumpkin Beers during the fall season. Pumking from Southern Tier is my favorite so far, looking forward to trying some new ones.

Pumpkin spiced Beers that have little or no pumpkin in them are avoided.

I dig the pumpkin stouts. Dark o the moon warlock and the retired pump[ky]n are or were my favorites. I haven't tried punkacinno but assume it's probably pretty tasty. I do enjoy DFH punk'n as well.

Not my favorite style, as I typically find the spices far too overwhelming. However, there are some I truly enjoy.

Tampa Bay Brewing Company's Gourds Gone Wild is the best I've ever had.
    DFH Punkin' is solid.
And I actually really like Smuttynose Pumpkin because it is (unusually) hoppy and very subtle with the spices.

I had wanted to try Schlafly Pumpkin for years, and finally got one in a trade. I was pretty disappointed - but I also got a BA Schlafly Pumpkin in the trade and that was outstanding. Prairie Basic Becky is outstanding too.

Avery Rumpkin sounds right up my alley, a high-ABV Rum BA pumpkin beer. Problem is that they apparently fill the bottle with sugar, then soak-in a few ounces of beer. I like pastry beers, but Rumpkin is undrinkably sweet.

In years past I haven’t really delved into pumpkin beers. I plan on trying many more this season.

I remember Whole Hog’s being really nice and well balanced. A brewery by me called Masthead makes their Haunted Hayride which I think is probably the best around. It’s quite dry but has a decent body with a little bit of hop bite, and really well spiced. Definitely one that I would go back to more than once or twice.

Down my way, Saint Arnold’s Pumkinator is an excellent pumpkin stout.
