Kinda surprised there wasnt a thread yet for these guys. Looks like the taproom is opening up end of the month.

I've only had two of their offerings, Sad Thug and Ambrosia Hugs. Sad Thug (blueberry, granola, vanilla, lactose berliner) was fantastic, really great stuff. Reminded me of some of the beers Energy City has been putting out.

Ambrosia Hugs (pineapple, cherry, orange, vanilla, marshmallow, lactose berliner) was pretty good, not sure how I feel about it yet. Good mouthfeel and the marshmallow smoothed things out but I think the cherry messed with the flavor profile. Sometimes I got solid cherry, other times it came off as medicinal/chocolate. Kinda weird.

Haven't tried it but huge fan of what they named their newest lager. "Saw them at the Fireside".

You too? 1 or 2 pins may have come home with me also over those years!

I don't know how in the world that place existed but I'm glad it did. I can't imagine ever letting my kid go to a place like the Fireside Bowl.

I visited Chicago strictly to see punk bands in the 90s at the Fireside. I was so disappointed when I finally moved to Logan years ago and they decided to turn it back into a bowling alley. I mean, WTF?

Not to derail, but their Dear to Heart is a really delightful dry-hopped pilsner. Light and crisp and the hops were exceptionally well integrated compared to other versions I’ve had of the style. Not sure if it’s still floating around.

There’s some ambiguous membership opening tomorrow. Has any one tried there BA stuff? I’m guessing he may have done some amateur barrel stuff before going pro with the new name

Don't forget the BA stouts when they haven't even released a stout...

Looking at their social media, they put their Black Is Beautiful in barrels in early July.

Head brewer at LL was the head brewer at Prairie Kraft brewing (now out of business I think?). Their BA stout was called Varuna Reserve (4.04 on untappd fwiw).

According to their social media, the head brewer is from Whiskey Hill Brewing Co in Westmont.

To be fair, I wouldn't brag about being the head brewer at Prairie Krafts. I'd probably put any other brewing job I'd held instead.

Isn't Whiskey Hill about a year or two old too? I believe they are newer.

Yeah, this dude left Whiskey Hill because their new head brewer is Eric(k?) who was responsible for last year's Prop.

I bought Round the Edges when it first came out. I was excited to try this new brewery. Ended up drain pouring all 4 cans and I never drain pour. I know a new brewery can’t afford to dump a batch but that beer shouldn’t of been canned. I guess I’ll try them again eventually if I hear enough good things but I’m definitely in no hurry.

Round the Edges was the beer they admitted had oxidation issues. They posted on IG, offered a free 4 pack to anyone who emailed.
