The closest fires are to our west (15 miles), northwest (37 miles) and northeast (30 miles - the biggest fire in California). We are in no danger. Normally we've an ocean breeze with 25m visibility, today it is about 3m. Ash is on our cars. In the last big fires we had close friends who were positive they were going to die trying to escape, tall flames on both sides of a narrow road, it was a reasonable assumption. They had 10 minutes notice near midnight, they lost everything but their lives. They rebuilt in the same location which is now 10m from the big fire. The big difference between these and last time is we don't have the winds that can drive a fire faster than you can run.

Oh Yeah!

 

Made a big decision today. Going forward, I'm only going to drink beer in two situations: when I'm alone or with people. Since I'm currently alone, am drinking Radio The Mothership, a double dry hopped DIPA from Collective Arts that is made with Mosaic, Citra and Simcoe hops. At 8.5% ABV, this is the strongest beer they have brewed in the DIPA style. This beer is rarely available in my city for some reason, so I can only access it when ordering for delivery directly from the brewery. Cheers.

 

Looks better than my Old Town. I had to replace the wooden cross braces with aluminum versions I made myself.
