Not really, Erdinger isn't sold at the Wiesn, so...

Throw conventional out the door. It's Bier, it's meant to be drank and enjoyed. Just do it!!! Prost!! back at all my BA friends.

I've had more German Oktoberfest beers than ever and couldn't be happier: Ayinger, Paulaner, Benediktiner, Warsteiner, Dinkel Acker. Of course I've been on a German beer thing this summer so give me more! I'll go to a bottle shop later this week and try to track down Weihenstephaner, Hofbrau and the other brands.

Oh, don't worry, I enjoy the hell out of them. Six-packs do not last very long in my fridge. :sunglasses: It's fun to analyze and dissect with everyone on here but when it's time to drink, I don't let anything get in the way of enjoying. And, for me, there is no better "drinking" beer than Oktoberfestbier. Eins, zwei, drei, g’suffa! :beers:

No Benediktiner around here (haven't been able to determine if we will), but we now have Spaten Oktoberfest ur-märzen for $8.50/6 pack.

Great price, it's mostly $9.99 or higher around here.

Haven't seen Benediktiner either, but I don't think I saw it last year either.

Also, still no Bitburger. Probably gonna be the same story as the Triple Hopped.

I never saw it during the fall, but randomly saw it at World Market around Christmas time. Might check with them if you have one near you.
Same. we're supposed to get it, just no idea where it is ... I guess we've still got a few weeks for them to trickle in.

I only found bitburger one place around me @FBarber and @steveh I thought it was gonna be every where too.

Only place I found it was our huge warehouse type store. Still haven’t tried it but I grabbed two bottles to sample before buying a whole six. Planning to drink one or both for New beer weekend.

Not one really close, but we get our coffee at the one that's closest, so I check the beer when I'm there. The dust depth on the bottles always deters a purchase. :grimacing:

Can't remember if I saw Benediktiner there last year.

Here is my German ranking so far from best to solid (none are bad):

    Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen
    Aecht Rauchbier Marzen
    Weihenstephaner Festbier
    Erdinger Oktoberfest (Hefeweizen)
    Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier
    Hofbrauhaus Freising Festbier
    Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest
    Paulaner Oktoberfest-Marzen
    Paulaner Oktoberfest-Wiesn
    Spaten Oktoberfest

Still need to find Bitburger and Benediktiner

Bill, they are in the shelf at my local Wegman's (not that this is useful for you). Hopefully you will see it soon.

    Cheers!

Hey, hasn't someone mentioned they've bought the liter cans of Wiesn this year? Wonder if it had new labelling... or was it old stock?

Post 370 -- @officerbill -- and it does look like new labelling.

OMG! My Costco (which rarely has anything more than Two Hearted & SN variety packs that I purchase) has cases of Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen, Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier, & Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest ($26-27 ea.). Additionally, there are cases of SA Oktoberfest and Yuengling Oktoberfest (maybe). There went $100 NOT down the drain. I'll be festing through Oktober:grin:

OK, Total Wine had a bunch today so I picked up Hofbrau, Weihenstephaner, Ayinger and Paulaner Oktoberfest Märzen. Can anyone school me on putting these four beers in order, from lightest to darkest/maltiest? I had the Ayinger a couple of weeks ago. All others are new to me.

Just me, but I'd go: Weihenstephaner, HB, Ayinger, Paulaner.

But the 2 different "styles" you have are so close, the only light to heavy would be Festbier to Amber Marzen -- so try the Weihenstephaner or HB first, then dip into the Ayinger or Paulaner.

Thanks, if it doesn't show up soon I'll spring for the 5L keg of HB :beers:

Thanks! Yeah, I really wanted to end the night with a good Doppelbock or Dunkelweizen but none were to be had at this location. I do know where to find some though, and they are even refrigerated. Imagine that.

If you take your time and savor the 4 beers you picked up you won't miss a Doppelbock. Plenty of malt waiting for your glass.
