What beer are you drinking now? #2865

Pretty good. Plenty of vanilla flavor. I didn’t chill it, so I’m not sure if that’s making it seem thicker and syrupy or if that’s just how it is. I don’t mind when a stout has that characteristic, but there were definitely some complaints about it in the reviews. My favorite beer store owner helps out at the brewery, so he was talking it up to me, and I can’t say I was disappointed in getting it.

Busy morning catching up on all the chores I didn’t do yesterday...taking a break with “Black Is Beautiful”, an imperial stout from Mountains Walking, Bozeman MT:



Black pour, at 58 degrees, with ruby edges; thick creamy dark tan head turns rocky; long cap retention; medium heavy lacing, thick ring, medium minus legs on swirl. Aromas of maple, vanilla and blueberry. Taste is maple, dark chocolate, tart blueberries and blackberries. Medium body, moderate minus carbonation, no warmth from 10% abv. Overall, the berries add a bit of tart tangy fruit to a very good stout; dangerously easy drinking; I’d gladly drink again.

Thank you. Never heard of the brewery until mentioned in the GL Forum, so I picked up a bottle at Capones. All but one reported back that they liked it, think it will work better in colder weather for me.

 

Surprisingly not gimmicky, great on a hot day

 

More fruits of my drive into Jersey yesterday. An absolute banger of a lager. Perfect for the perfect weather here at glorious Sore Thumb here on the South Shore of LI.

I'm enjoying a Golden Monkey Belgian Style Tripel from Victory. This is one of my all-time favorite beers and a regular in my rotation. Clove, banana, yeast & spice in the nose and taste. I have never been let down by this beer.
