Mirage makes killer hazy IPAs that kill fascists.

I'm still kinda vague on what the ideal hazy is supposed to taste like. I've had a lot that were very smooth and drinkable, but without a whole lot of character, and others with an unpleasantly sharp citric acidity that are distinctive, but not in a way that makes me want another.

Yeah, I think that was kind of what I was getting at by starting this thread. Since I don’t trade anymore, I figure my best bet is to find locally available approaches to the style to get a sense of why this seems to have become the default version of the American IPA. I’d love to have a chance to try some of the greats from Treehouse etc. (fresh) but that just isn’t really in the cards for me at the moment.

I’m keeping a list of recommendations from this thread and look for them when I’m out, but so far I haven’t seen many. (I also don’t go out of my way for beer the way I used to.) I actually quite enjoy tongue-scouring citric acidity, but then I’ve been known to drink a 52oz bottle of unsweetened grapefruit juice in a sitting.

Oh, I get that. And I'm all in on a WCIPA that's assertively citrusy & piney. When it's nothing else but a one dimensional rhindy bitterness, though, more like a fruit juice gone wrong than a beer, I'm not a fan.

It's supposed to tastel like it would make 30 year old men pee their pants and yell "bro!" While they debate Sabro, Vic Secret and Strata hops. Does that help?
