Early start, have a Spiteful IPA which has faded a bit as it is almost four months old.

The beer purge continues until I get things up to code, leaving the weekend the exception for new beer tastings on hand, or trips to breweries or bars (sadly infrequent due to Rona).

I've stayed in Newark a bit, mostly for work trips but also on visits to NYC (easy train to the city). Exposed to Portuguese people and restaurants, one of the few ethnic groups without a "neighborhood" in Chicago. Found memories. Wayne Shorter has also given me found memories over the years. Born on this date in 1933, born and raised in Newark, New Jersey.

    Two for Tuesday!

Have a good Tuesday. I am in Fort Wayne at my college friends apartment hanging with his doggo. He's an old boy, about 15. Got a lot of hanging out to do this week. Most people were busy or sleeping when I got in last night after sleeping in the afternoon. I still got pretty nice, but not wasted. I don't plan on doing that ever again. I got steam on my Lenovo laptop T450S, going to throw some low graphic puzzle games on there. You beat me as I was setting up the thread @ChicagoJ, I have good reason to be paranoid about making beer threads.

I am Indiana, so you know what I am doing. 12 pack of the best Amarillo hop showcase of all time. Also for a general American wheat it nails it without being too hoppy. Chips are also included I got some munchies and probably will have another deli sandwich if I let it tempt me.

Enjoying some Kawaba Twilight Ale. A very subtle and well balanced Pale Ale. Too light for most Americans to be impressed by but in all fairness this is a really nice beer to have with a meal.

Basic high gravity malt liquor. Found it at Belmont on St. Joe's. Lemonade and a semi sweet sugar backbone, drying with a tad of spicy alcohol. It's not bad, pretty good actually. Not too syrupy sweet as others.

    Cheers

    Good morning BA
Jumping into the bounty of Oktoberfest beers I brought home from Nashville
    [IMG]
Summary of Review: great amber lager & good festbeer, only because it's so drinkable. 5% ABV and very light flavor.
@superspak, enjoy your time with friends in Ft. Wayne. I grew up just 10 minutes away in Harlan. Cheers all!

Not a great example, but I'll try any Oktoberfest once. Cheers all!

I know it is a breaking the rules a a little but I am posting the beverage (WBAYDN acronym loophole) I am drinking right now. Lying in bed and craving some social activity but still can't drink. Coffee is from a local roaster.

Good morning BAs! My mini fridge is full of beer, and I’m “invading” the main kitchen fridge with more...I’m going to have to drink these IPAs down ... first up, “Focal Banger”:

Canned 8/6/20. I’ve been to the brewery and drank it, and bought some to drink and distribute, but I never got around to reviewing it...until now:

At 54 degrees, pours opaque almost hazy deep gold with some clarity under three fingers of rocky/mixed bubbles foam; long cap retention; medium heavy lacing that clings to the glass. Dank grapefruit and lemon nose. Weedy bitter citrus - grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange; semi sweet bready malt; some onion as liquid warms; bitter citrus finish. Medium body, moderate minus carbonation; bitterness (90 IBU) coats the tongue, but no hop astringency; no warmth from 7% abv. Overall a very tasty enjoyable IPA; nice pithy citrus bitter linger; great balance of English malts and bitter hopping; I could drink two cans in a row!

Thanks to @Ocalafox for this freshie from Vermont. Cheers and have a terrific Tuesday y’all!

Out on the Capt. Whittaker near where we were yesterday trying our luck on the fluke. We’ve caught 5 so far, but no keepers. I had a 17” one but that’s too small. Anyway, this Mild from Grimm is so tasty. Like a light porter. So much flavor for 3%. Cheers all!

Our wedding anniversary is today, and we are going to do something we haven't done in months: leave town. Headed for the big city of Albuquerque for dinner and a night in a nice hotel.

Not a side by side, more of a back to back:
    Heady Topper:

I’ve taken a break, eaten and cleansed my palate...I’ve had HT more than FB, but again, never got around to a review, so here we go!

Canned 8/7/20. At 53 degrees looks exactly like Focal Banger (FB) - opaque almost hazy deep gold with some clarity under huge rocky white head; cap retention is good; lacing is medium heavy, but seems a bit less in volume than FB. Strong catty, dank grapefruit and lemon nose, followed by onion and garlic which become more pronounced as liquid warms. Taste is very bitter grapefruit and lemon; less sweet malt base than FB; strong bitter citrus and onion finish. Same feel as FB, medium body, moderate carbonation, bitter (100 IBU) tongue coating with no hop astringency; no warmth from 8% abv. Overall, the onion and garlic in nose and on tongue takes away from my enjoyment of this beer; I like the long bitter citrus rind linger; bold, assertive flavors for sure...just some I personally don’t want; I like Focal Banger so much more; I’ll drink HT again, but I couldn’t drink two in a row...
