This is absolutely spot-on! I'm having one now and I keep waiting for the bitterness to hit and it. just. doesn't. I've got More's DDH Strong Hand, which I think is also Mosaic, in the fridge and it's a much more well-rounded beer. I don't want to call it one-note because it's very flavorful, but just a bit of bitterness or even a slightly drier finish would have put Mindspark over the top.

I also had a Tonal Range over the weekend and while I like it quite a bit and would be happy to drink it whenever, it's definitively more Chicago than Northeast, imo. I'm speculating that they're using final gravity as a measure of dry/sweet but I didn't notice much of a difference in residual sweetness. Plan to hold one back to do a side by side with one of their others as I appreciate the experiment.

    That said, its delish.

Honestly glad I read this and the other similar comments. I was thinking about picking it up because I'm tired of sweet hazies, but...if it's still sweet I might just keep my eyes peeled for DDH Pixel Density at that point.

In this context, I'm glad there were others reporting something similar as I've not looked around and would hate to deter anyone with just my experience.

Feel like this may be one of those subtleties people with more refined palates than mine can pick up. There's a fine distinction between creamy and sweet, but I couldn't differentiate the two in this.

Yeah, I picked up Tonal Range based on the P3 description. While a fine IPA, it still tasted sweet to me so was a bit of a disappointment in this regard.

I am a bit disappointed hearing these comments. I’ve really become a fan of P3’s hazy IIPAs lately. While still a bit on the sweeter side, they obviously aren’t nearly as sweet as the Creme series (which I put on the Hop Butcher sweetness spectrum). But based on the description, was hoping for much more dryness than what I’m hearing. Is the increased carbonation noticeable?

IMO Mindspark is too sweet to not have a bite to go along with it. Tough to finish each of the 2 cans I’ve had so far.

Thought I saved a can of Terrazzo but nope. I will agree that this batch doesn’t seem 100% the same as the first batch but I’m also not convinced it’s as different as some folks are making it out to be.

In the early Phase Three days I found their IPA's to swing wildly from pretty awful to pretty great. It was frustrating but at least exciting.

In the past 3-4 months I've feel they've settled into a sustained mediocrity, to the point that I'm passing on almost everything.

Suffice to say, I'm NOT surprised recent offerings aren't impressing anyone here.

Still way into the stouts, though. Wish they'd do one every week. (I do not consider Pressed to be a "porter", that's a fucking stout)

In spite of my last remarks regarding Mindspark, I will wholeheartedly disagree on your thoughts of P3 being sustained in mediocrity. I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the progress they’ve made since fully taking over at Lake Zurich and I suspect their positive momentum will only continue.

Their consistency is better. Overall, their product isn't.

    Just my opinion, of course.

And again, this is only in reference to their IPA's.

As long as they keep pumping out Pixel Density as the quality IPA it has become, I'll be happy. I'm really pleased with what that beer has settled into, as it's exactly what I'm looking for (screaming hops on the nose, great body, big citrus-y notes, and a crisp hoppy finish) in that style of IPA.

I still don't think there's enough going on for my own palate to warrant the premium over other beers on the shelf...or even other offerings from P3 themselves. Admittedly, I haven't had one since April so I'll stop badmouthing regular old Pixel Density here. :grimacing:

Anyone else think the Pils was pretty weak?

I have to agree with consensus that Tonal Range is not consistent with the description. Mouthfeel is great but the taste is too sweet with not enough bittering for what they were going for. A good beer? Sure, but lacking for what they were supposedly going for.

I hear you though after one sip it reminds me of a Treehouse beer (can’t figure out which one). I really like it though I would agree that it’s not -non sweet

That very well may be. Unfortunately I have little experience with Treehouse so I can't give an opinion one may or another. Like I said, it's a good beer, but I can't say they nailed the description. That being said, I would certainly dink again.

Agreed for the most part. Good beer. Didn’t find it too sweet, but I can’t differentiate between a typical P3 hazy DIPA.

I’m digging Tonal Range. Tons of melon, which is probably my favorite tasting note of the style. For that alone I’ll be buying a couple more. And the carb and ABV is right in my wheelhouse.
