Worth noting for those new to the NW, Breakside has a special process for their FH beers. They flash freeze the fresh hops in liquid nitrogen to make them brittle, then shatter them to expose the lupulin glands and get all the good stuff in direct contact with the beer. I believe they invented this process, and while they don’t keep it a secret, no other brewery is doing it to my knowledge.

It's amazing. @afrokaze makes a post with a picture, and my wallet appears in my hand. That's some impressive long-distance Jedi mind tricks going on.

You're right! We might even have new tricks up our sleeve this year, and judging by this first beer, I'd say it's working pretty well

Is it their flagship IPA with fresh hops?

What kind of fresh hops does it have?

Think it’s just a one-off IPA (not wanderlust etc). Made with Strata hops I believe. Tons of hope flavor, melon, etc.

Heard Milwaukie will have FH WJ on Monday.

    And there will be cans.

Just call it Wallet Jack at this point, because this is where all my $s will be going.

For those in N.Cal who are reading this thread, I'll be in Santa Cruz next Friday and Saturday, and then in Napa Sunday and Monday. Wife and I will be driving, so if anyone is interested in some fh Breakside goodness, just let me know. As always, my cost is your cost.

But let me know by Monday if you're interested. :sunglasses:

FH Perle Haggard crowler up first.

good news is it’s carbonated, bad news is the FH character is super faint, just a little grassiness on the finish. Still a delicious beer and no regrets on ordering it.

FH Eliot delivers on excellent fresh hop flavor.

I should add that we'll be driving down 101, and will be staying in Eureka the first night (Thursday). Also will be making stops in Healdsburg, Russian River Brewing and Sonoma during our trip. On our way back we'll be taking the 5 up to Ashland. Can't really make any detours, but we could certainly stop along the way in places like Red Bluff and Redding (for example).

Varietal did some amazing fresh hop beers last year. Don’t forget about Cloudburst and Holy Mountain, too.

The guy in the uniform on the right looks a bit like Jim Mattis. As a Marine, he'd probably die before wearing an Army uniform, though.

Man, it sucks the big fest at Avista Stadium isn't happening this year. Normally, multiple fh beers are to be found there. Fuck Covid-19 and 2020.
