For something like the Super overripe, you shouldn't have a problem. They've had it on tap before, and my recollection is that it took several days to blow through the keg. Limited stuff like the BBDS sold out in a few hours at the NE Alberta street pub, but that's pretty unusual.

    You should be fine.

You've obviously done your homework. Recent emails have mentioned plans to eventually reopen some of the other Portland facilities, but I'm not sure that will have happened as of the date you arrive here. Regardless, enjoy your stay and good luck.

I know as much as you do having just moved here last month but I got the impression that the vast majority of their production is going into cans to be picked up at the NW location, now with Beaverton opened up. I don't think there will be an amazing smorgasbord available at Beaverton based on their IG stories updated daily; most volume seems to still be canned.

Based on Multnomah County's status on the watchlist, I don't see NE or NW opening up for drafts anytime soon.

I am just waiting for them to start WA shipping so I can quit making the hour drive over the river.

I'm going to cautiously disagree with you there. There are a number of Multnomah County brewpubs and taphouses that are open during Phase one. Ex Novo for example, is considerably smaller than either GN location, and seems to be doing just fine so far.

It does take some effort to stay open during phase one (given the social distancing requirements), but it seems like both the NE and NW locations could accomplish it. I suspect more than anything else, GN wants to be sure reopening those locations would be financially viable before they open up again. Can sales seem to be doing just fine for them (plus I feel as if I've even seen an uptick in keg distribution), which might be a factor as well in deciding whether or not it's worth the hassle of reopening during phase one.

I actually am headed to Seattle after my stay in Portland so it looks like if I don't get lucky in Portland then I will at least be able to stop at the Georgetown location as it should be opening any day now. I am likely bringing some Chicago area beers if anyone lives downtown and would like to swap for a few.

All fair points, but I'm not talking about phase one, I'm talking about being on the watchlist, though. I'm not privy to real time case numbers, but I'd imagine we are more likely to slide backwards than to move to phase two at this point.

If any restaurants haven’t openEd for onsite dinning or consumption yet it seems kinda dumb to do so now, at the end of summer.

we are about 4+ weeks from cold, rain, dark. Those nice outdoor spaces are going away and I’m fairly certain that we won’t be going into phase 2 until after first of year.

    Today's update (8/28/20).

    Happy Friday, everyone!

Tons of new beer, app features galore, and our first Seattle drop ahead!
Here are your 3 Notions for this week...

    Upcoming Drops

    Crowns & Axes
    (6% abv) $20/4pack
This collabo has been 3-4 years in the making, and we are super excited about it! A tart ale with strawberry and guava, Crowns and Axes was brewed with our friends Beny and Teo from Crowns and Hops (you can peep them on the sick label above!). This incredible pair has been across the country and around the world pouring their brews, pushing craft beer to be more diverse and raising more awareness about racial equity. They are soon to open their taproom space in Inglewood, CA. Check out their beers and mission here and follow them here, and we will also be doing an IG Live on Tuesday Sept 1 at 4 pm (PST) with them about this collabo, why it took so long, diversity (and lack of it) in craft beer, racial equity and more, so be sure to tune in!

    PB & Jammy Pants
    (7%.5 abv) $20/4pack
Crunchy or creamy, squares or triangles - whatever your jam, there’s nothing better than a classic PB&J. We slathered the latest batch of Jammy Pants with peanut butter to compliment all that raspberry and boysenberry deliciosity.

    Juice Sr.
    (10.5% abv) $21/4pack
The patriarch of the Lovejoy family, Juice Sr. is a venerable old Triple IPA brewed with Mosaic hops.

    Sub Harmonics
    (8.1% abv) $20/4pack
Our new DIPA definitely shreds. This heavy headbanger is hopped with El Dorado and and Citra, but don’t party too hard - that abv might leave you with a bangover.

Jammy Pants (Blueberry, Boysenberry & Marionberry)
    (7% abv) $20/4pack
We can’t be stopped! We are doubling the Jam this week, dropping not one but two new versions of our favorite fruity tart ale. This time we are loading up with a late summer bounty of blueberries, boysenberries, and marionberries.

    Hedge Bier
    (5.8% abv) $16/4pack
No need to hedge your bets on this beer. Hedge Bier is a West-Coast-style pilsner dry-hopped with a rotating selection of hops. Light as a biscuit and balanced with a crisp herbal backbone.

    App Update

We are stoked to introduce v.2.0 of the Great Notion universe, with tons of upgrades and brand new features. Here is a quick overview of what you can expect:

-We tweaked the design for a better overall flow and sleeker look. You’ll see a couple of new tabs for easier navigation and more hot tips to help you find what you need.

-Want to see your progress? Swipe right on the homepage to see how many points you need to reach the next level! Quicker loading times and better stability to avoid those ill-timed crashes.

-Merch! Add a glass or t-shirt to your order and pick it up all at once. You can still order merchandise on our website if you would like it to be shipped.

-Checkin your cans and taproom visits to earn extra points.

-Add Checkins to your Instagram directly through the GN app, and score even more points.

-Choose your preferred pick up spot! You can now pickup from either NW or Beaverton, or Georgetown, depending on available inventory.

-You no longer have to upload your ID to make an order. Make sure that your username matches your ID so we can check it in person!

You can download the updated app here!

    Seattle Drop!

Last week we introduced you to Oggy, and today he made his debut in Georgetown! Our first ever Seattle release went live this morning, and you may already have gotten your hands on Oggy’s signature brew (a hazy IPA spawned from Juice Invader and Ripe with loads of Citra and Galaxy hops). While we are still putting the finishing touches on the new space, we couldn’t wait to get some drops going and give you a peek at the taproom. Here are a few things to keep in mind for this weekend, as well as for any future GT drops:

-Orders will only be open on Friday for the time being. As we continue to put the finishing touches on the taproom before we open for service, we will only be open for app pickups on Friday and Saturday, 12-7pm, and we will not be able to hold unfulfilled orders after close of business on Saturday.

-Guests must follow all COVID-19 safety procedures. Keep six feet of distance from others, and you MUST wear a mask.

-Because of differences in inventory, you will not be able to change your pickup location after placing your order. Make sure to select the correct pickup point when you add items to your cart.

-If you are placing an order for Seattle pickup AND Portland pickup, you will need to complete two separate transactions (one per each location) or you will get an error message.

-Parking space is very limited. Swipe left to see where you can park in relation to the building! PLEASE be respectful of other businesses' parking spaces and refrain from using them. If you are illegally parked, you can be towed.

After so many months of waiting, we can’t wait to see you this weekend, Seattle fam!

I feel old trying to figure out all the functions in the app, including the new ones. It took me way longer than it should have figuring out how to check beers in, and I still haven't figured out the Instagram story portion- no clue how to tag Great Notion in these!

I know I shouldn't read these every week, but I do. But:

"Collabo, Jammy Pants, "venerable old Triple IPA", Shreds, Bangover, "a hazy IPA spawned from Juice Invader and Ripe"."

are nearly giving me an aneurysm. Slang is fine in casual, verbal usage, but when written out, ? If they can't write a readable sentence, how are we supposed to trust them to write out processes, procedures, and policies for their employees to follow during the production and serving of their various food products?

Imagined page from brewers recipe book: dudebrahz, take a couple grandola kilos of those seed-lookin' thangs over there and dump those hip dudes in the big shiny kettle over there. Dump sum scorchy h2o, on there, and let it chillax for an hour. Or however long ya feel like. Don't be all stressed about it. After that, dump some of those herbacious flowers in and let sit til they be dank, like your favorite growers basement. Enjoy homeslice!

He does post on here on occasion, and he is associated with grape lotion... But the last time he was on ba was approximately 4 and half months ago. So he's not what I would call a particularly active member.

I've figured out most of it, not necessarily turning on the bat signal here.

The language in their newsletter is a bit over the top, but there are a lot of breweries doing that sort of thing so it isn't too out of place in the larger, national scene. I think Modern Times is a bigger offender, haha!

Opinions on choosing between Beaverton and Alberta for pours? Distance of each doesn't matter to me.

I don't think Alberta has re-opened yet. I went to the Beaverton output last week and it was felt like it was safely setup: good distancing, all outdoors. You need to make a reservation. They had pours of pretty much all of their releases for the past month and a few others. It was perfect for me since a lot of the recent stuff is something I dig for a few ounces but not a whole pint like Seedless, Key Lime Pie, Triple Raspberry Shake, etc.
