Has anyone actually tested the abv though or are we taking the sales guys' word for it?

If there is lactose involved, would that make it MiLkenmillions?

If the ABV was wrong, would that make it Bilkenmillions?

I don't think so, but if you watched the demo on the news, it was literally pour in a can of beer and out comes the soft serve. Of course, there's something getting added internally as the stabilizer, but if it is in a tiny quantity, then it seems legit (unless the ABV of the original beer was incorrect).
A post about 2 weeks ago from his Facebook page seems like he's looking into doing just that...

THere is a pandemic costing the economy billions and rather than a cure we invent a way to make beer into ice cream. God bless the USA.

I thought I saw something where someone (maybe Mike himself) said that this doesn't work well with high ABV beers, it makes them icy. I can't point to anything specific, though. So while BA One Man Wrecking Machine ice cream sounds good, I wouldn't get my hopes up. If this takes off though, maybe Mike should consider brewing some lower ABV stouts with tons of flavorings/adjuncts specifically for soft serve making.

I'm not saying people won't buy this, but the idea of spending top $ on what is sure to be less-good ice cream than the top $ non-beer ice creams available at the grocery/specialty store - JUST because it has 5% ABV - is...so not worth my money.

If it's high ABV ice cream, I actually kind of get it. That's kind of cool to have a scoop of XXX, and get a little buz (or continue it). But to have a scoop of 5% and feel literally nothing, while getting a worse texture seems...silly? I dunno, I guess I just don't get what you get out of it. It won't actually taste like beer - it'll taste like less good beer and/or less-good ice cream.

MORE said the same thing today about their ice cream, no loss to ABV.

For sure. If you look at the inventor's social media pictures, the ice cream made with mixed drinks looks more like a snow cone than soft serve. So that wouldn't be good eats.

What did get my hopes up is if you look at picture from the demo they did at More, they used Archetype, which is 11% ABV and it looked "normal." BA One Man Wrecking machine came in at 11.91% which may be treading that fine line between soft serve and snow cone, but I bet you would get a ton of neckbeards showing up for that or ISLBS (BA or non-BA) or what have you. He could get super creative and offer something other places aren't and possibly draw a whole different crowd or demographic to his place (above 21, of course).

This whole thing is super interesting to me for some unknown reason. My other question is would it require a different license to serve ice cream? I'm totally uneducated on that piece.

As long as I can get my ice cream served in a baseball helmet like DQ back in the day, I'm good.

When I was at Purdue, there was a bar at the edge of campus that apparently did beer-floats, and everyone seemed to love them. They charged a pretty penny, and they'd make it with (as I recall) vanilla or Chocolate ice cream, then whatever beer they had on tap. Which beer you chose changed the price, and it started at $8 for just the ice cream. I seem to recall that for the smaller of 2 sizes of BA coconut nawhal and vanilla ice cream, it was going to be $14-16. I think the larger size made it $21.

In hindsight, I wish that we had tried it, but I had to drive an hour that night after leaving, I suspected my wife would not enjoy it, which meant I'd be the one consuming about 12 oz of 12% beer, after already having had 1 or 2 pours of other beers. Which is no bueno.

Anyway, I've never heard of something like this elsewhere. Just seemed to fit with the theme here, so thought I'd mention it.

I made a beer float with Lizard of Koz once. It was amazing how it turned one of the sweetest beers I'd ever had into something insanely bitter. It was no big loss to have wasted a LoK, but to waste the ice cream as well was pretty tragic.

Is ISLBS special roast - bowline blend anything special? First mikerphone release in Ohio that I have seen.

It’s probably my favorite variant. Roasty coffee with some bitter chocolate flavors. No hint of green pepper flavor from the coffee, and the roasty, bitter aspect tapers some of the sweetness found in reg ISLBS.

Just a note: If it's in 12oz cans, it's not ISLBS, it's just SLBS. It's not quite as intense as the imperial version, but it's really flavorful and tasty for an 8% stout.

Ok. Thanks. Good to know. Still ok since I need a break from the big stouts.
