Hadn't noticed it myself, but I have a couple left that I'll keep an eye on for science sake.

    Yes.

But this likely has more to do with me not being able to find it and pour it into my glass.

The 3 I’ve had so far this year have all been the same. Still a super enjoyable beer but really no head to speak of.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, the head retention has been terrible for Hackar-Pschoor this year

I am drinking a 32oz tin can of Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier right now out of the matching 1 liter mug (package). I like it. it doesn't seem like a Ofest beer to me, but that's ok. I have no problem drinking it anyhow. can date: 5/11/2020 - 5/11/2021

The two 6 packs of H-P I got also had the head retention issue. Still tasted great but the head died within the first 10 seconds of sitting post-pour.

Total speculation here but Hacker-Pschorr did change their packaging a few months ago and they are using new bottles. Wonder if that could have anything to do with it? Anyone notice the same poor head retention with the Münchner Gold or Weissbier?

OT, but since we have German beer enthusiasts here. I came across this image on the Weihenstephaner website the other day and love the look of this glassware. Does anyone know the name of the style of glassware so I have a better chance of finding it? Thanks

What FBarber said, but normally the tall glass of this shape is called collins.

I just opened a bottle to double check (yes I know what time it is) and observed nothing of the sort. In pint tulip I got a head that went all the way to the top and took at lest a couple of minutes to come down. There was some residual foaming even as I was taking the last sip. God, that's good.

It looks a lot like a Stange for Alt or Kolsch, but I doubt a Bavarian brewery would make one of those. Fbarber is probably right, it's probably a tall, thin mug and the handle is turned away from the camera.

Perfectly logical, Herr Professor. The only problem is that the vast majority of the time I buy 355ml of beer so when I pour it into a vessel of this size, it makes me :slight_frown:

I mentioned this before, they just want you to burn thru 2 of those bottles at a time.

If you don't care as much about the brewery on the glass, you can find this glass mug in the .3L size:

I think I have a Radeberger one somewhere.

The Oktoberfest beers have finally arrived here and I've been champing at the bit to drink them after reading everyone else's posts in this and other threads. First up for me is Hofbräu. The taste is malty, bready and sweetish with a good balancing hop bitterness. The Munich malt makes itself known via the breadiness. There's also a mild but present hop flavor which is quite pleasant. For 6.3% abv it has some serious drinkability.
