I figured it’s appropriate given the scorcher of a weekend it has been here in the South Bay.

What are some of your favorite styles? Your favorite brewery’s best lager offerings?

Had a chance to try Smog City’s Smogtoberfest on Friday. Bready malt but not overpowering, complemented by a clean bitterness on the finish; nicely balanced and really crushable. Will need to grab another 4-pk to compare with Sierra Nevada’s Oaktoberfest.

What do you have on deck or drinking *checks time, confirms it’s Beer O’clock* right now?

Eppig' Festbier is great as is their Special Lager.
Culver has a new American Lager that was tasty.
Any Bagby lager/pils is going to be top notch.

I mean, if we're talking favorites it's Moonlight Reality Czeck, hands down.

Local offerings? Timbo, Hayabusa, and most of Smog's lagers. I need to grab their festbier

Enegren crushes the Lager Gaza me. And i also concur with @UnknownKoger - Moonlight Reality Czeck is the best in the state.

82 degrees? What part of California are you in? Must be up in the mountains or at the beach. It's 115 where I am right now.

109 currently in south OC, I feel you.

As far as lagers go I've just had the Ruekeller Helles lager which has been pretty solid to have the last 3-4 days. Also got a can of the Humble Sea Crate and Barrelled on Friday which was surprisingly good, wish I got the 4-pack as opposed to the one can. Definitely craving a Timbo right about now though.

Ordered the lager mix pack from Moonlight Brewing for delivery this week, and I have to say it was a very wise investment considering the weather. All their lagers are top notch.

Russian River's Velvet Glow is a fantastic 4.75% Helles-style lager. I find it to be as nuanced as actual German Helles beers. They're not trying to put a CA spin (ie hoppy) on it or anything. It's just beautiful, clean drinking.

Thanks for this thread. We are researching beers to feature in a new taproom in the north bay and I'm pleased to be reminded of Reality Czeck! I had it at Toronado several years ago and forgot about it.
Here at home we are revisiting Anchor Steam after finding a 12 pack on sale at Safeway. Still well made without interference from Sapporo and tasty ice cold.

    * Moonlights lagers are amazing.
    * I also loved Timbo Pils.
    * Alvarado’s Citraveza and other IPL’s are great too.
    * Overall it’s been the SARA lagers I’ve been enjoying most recently. All Mammals Play and Even Odds before that. I live locally so can grab a 4 pk without much planning.

In addition to Moonlight and HPB, Green Cheek has been pumping out delicious lagers and pilsners. Bier is one of my favorites and is drinking splendidly.

Love party cup and timbo pils, Bruery helles is great, smog city’s lagers, green cheeks lagers, and Enegren. Great time for lagers in Southern California. Just had a bottle logic lager that was really tasty.

On top of the great stuff from Russian River and Moonlight that's already been mentioned, nor cal folks should look out for Alluvium pilsner from Seismic. I think its my favorite pilsner, just so clean and refreshing.

Eel river also just started packaging a beer that is just called "organic California lager" that is pretty tasty as well
