... with something from the above. All of that would have been on tap - hypothetically, of course. And I'd have to be an El Cat member to have a bottle or two of Charleywine lying around.

Solid beer more of a cross between the Marzen and fest style. Not as malty and sweet as Wisconsin marzens. I would put it in the fest category if I had to choose one.
Does have a bit of a true Munich lager flavor to it. Some sweet malt , bread, grain, caramel. But there is hops too that come out more on the end. Citrus/floral. With hop zing that lingers. Maybe a touch of honey and apple flavor too.

I only bought a single can, wish I had bought more. the more I drank it the more I liked it.

Just pointing out: six pages for this thread! What a fantastic turnout!

As you US West-coasters finish up your weekend, I hope everyone had an enjoyable time. A great turnout for our thread this weekend.

As mentioned above, why don't we keep this running all weekend, since tomorrow (as a holiday) is an extension? I'll certainly probably add to this if we keep it going.

Hello Late Night NBW (Sunday edition)
Well here we are. Got to, or pretty damn near, 110 degrees today here in sunny, sweltering for now, Southern California. Damn. Plants are wilting, dog is looking at me with a WTF is going on look. Thank God for the pool. It REALLY does make it much more tolerable. Oh, and so does fine fermentations.

Speaking of, NBS BIF #12 sign ups are closing tonight.....Anybody else? Bueller? Bueller?

Also speaking of NBS BIF's. I am enjoying Beezer from Old Irving Brewing, in Chicago. This beauty came (as a ninja hit) to me from our very own @FBarber . Thanks for the surprise hit.
I am just kind of scratching my head. Did this come at the tail end of our shenanigans from NBS BIF #11, or is this part of the early (I can't wait to get this shit started) chaos of NBS BIF #12?

    Anyway, to the beer.

Appearance is a hazy, peach-tinged golden swirl of turbidity. A fluffy white head leaps two fingers high and lazily recedes to an almost milky head. Great retention and consistent lacing.
Nose is awash with citrus. Zesty orange rinds, pithy grapefruit, floral orange notes, ripe mango, and a mild bready grain note.
Flavor follows the nose well, juicy notes are there, but a mellow ride. Mainly a melange of orange and mango, and here is where the mouthfeel plays along well. Liter than medium, but not thin in feel, but active carbonation helps the orange notes kind of rise and fall in the presence of the mango. Almost like a juice heavy mimosa. But not that thick.
Overall, a fine hazy, but I might just ask for a tad more follow through on the flavor that the nose foreshadowed.

That sounds like one helluva melange. They were really playing with a lot of components to get that right. Sounds like a serious winner.

And now round 2 from @FBarber.
    Double Beezer DDH DIPA.
Citrus and Mosaic again. But the grain bill really contributes to this DIPA in a well rounded way, from nose to palate to feel. Slightly fluffy delivery of a juicy citrus and tropical blend coupled by a solid bready malt foundation. Solid.

I just assumed this weekend extended into today. I’m grilling T Bones with Silver Queen corn, baked taters. And a new beer.

Another fine example of an IPA from the good folks at Turning Point Beer, an Imperial, NEIPA, Triple or just experimental. Their typical look, juicy like orange, pineapple and grapefruit in color. This one has a slightly more hoppy aroma. The taste is very juicy and is maybe more pineapple than orange and intense with grapefruit. Subtle differences and very delicious. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, a real pleasure. Ten and one half percent ABV is largely unnoticeable. Overall another outstanding brew, not matter how you classify it. Turning Point Crew continues to tantalize the taste buds. Tremendous.

Absolutely gorgeous Labor Day, 75. Pulled out a beer purchased for $2.25 w/ tax from Beer on the Wall 8/22/20, a great craft beer store with draft beers that price everything in singles, sometimes discounts on 4/6 packs. Works great when you want to try new offerings.

I've had a few Deschutes beers in the past, they were good. Their Q & A thread thread inspired me to try more, so here we are.

    Tale of the Tape:
12 oz, canned 5/14/20 17:59, freshest within 4 months listed on the can, so just in time. 5.0% ABV, 40 IBU

Appearance: Slightly cloudy / foggy golden orange appearance, creamy fluffy slightly bright white head lasts a few minutes leaving creamy fine lacing. Light settlement settled on the bottom. 4.0

    Aroma:
Expected a sharp citrus fruit aroma, but what first hit me was nice sweet biscuit malt, absolutely fantastic. This smells like beer! Subdued citrus backs well, slightly dank and pepper as well. Very nice. 4.5

    Taste:
Balanced taste consistent with the aroma. Malt leads with a pleasant salt fresh bread lead, citrus and lemon provide balance, tastes great and provides perfect balance. Who says you can't make a great tasting average (5.0%) strength beer. Outstanding pour Deschuetes! Having this nearly 4 months in, not sure if fresh would be different / bolder, but wouldn't change a thing. 5.0

    Mothfeel:
Creamy medium body, faint carbonation holds into the pour, lightly dry, tingly sweetness hits you at time, light bitterness rotates in and out. East clean finish and drinking. 4.25

    Overall:
Never expected a great balanced light alcohol but great tasting beer based on the label / name, but Deschuetes made this style their bitch! Outstanding effort, I found myself a new incredible beer and this will be front and center the next time I hit the store, hopefully not until I clear more of my current beer stash! Outstanding!!! 4.5

Pull out a new pour today, sure glad I did!

Old North Premium Lager from Hi-Wire brewing in Asheville. Today’s grilling beer, featuring some nice usda prime T Bones , with corn on the cob, baked potatoes with fresh chives and sour cream.

Ok so the beer, just a simple lager the BA rating is over 4 which is surprising because it’s a lager. Drinking blind I’d assume it to be an AAL of some type, it’s certainly very light both in color and taste. Nose, for me there is none, ok it’s thin, but there’s too much up front bright flavor, leans to lemony, which I don’t like at all. Needs a deeper malt base it doesn’t seem substantial enough even for a simple lager. If this beer was in a Bud can as an example I’d guess it would be scored a 2, I actually would prefer a PBR or Michelob, but at $8.99 there’s not much pain. Rated to style it’s average at best so maybe a 3.
