Beer #3. In my opinion, this is the best beer Troegs has ever brewed. Already killed 2 4-packs and going to go look for more. It’s a damn fine warm-weather pils.

Lot’s of honey-do’s this morning, and we’re (meaning me) prepping for our first grilling outside this hot-axx Summer...I didn’t get around to what would have been my closer last night (due to too much chicken parmigiana, pasta and Chianti ), so let’s do it now - Prairie Artisan Ales’ “barrel aged Peanut butter bomb!”:

A cinnamon colored fizzy head poured at 58 degrees sits atop black liquid with no ruby edges; poor cap retention; very thin ring that does not last; no lace and medium legs upon swirl. Nose is strong bourbon followed by chocolate, verdè chillies, and roast coffee; barest whiff of peanut butter; boozy bourbon exhale. Bourbon, chocolate, hot chillies sauce; muted peanut butter; very light spice, cinnamon; Mexican cake chocolate/spicy finish. Hot chili pepper bite on tip of tongue; whole mouth full of warmth from 14.4% abv and chili peppers; full body, slick feel; minimal carbonation. Overall, more bourbon than anything else (which I personally like) and plenty of base BOMB!...just not so much peanut butter, which taste-wise the beer tastes great, but lacking the reason (peanut butter) for paying $12.99/12 oz bottle vs. $8.99 for regular BOMB! or $10.99 for BA BOMB! Tasty, but yet another way overpriced “disappointment” from Prairie for me...

18th Street Sex And Candy. This was great. Lasting rocky head retention/thick foamy lacing the whole glass. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/zest, wood, peppercorn, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no cloying/astringent flavors. Very smooth/soft, minimal warming 7.5%. Great Chinook, cascade profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice sized dark/bready malt backbone. Name fits well, the citrus/fruit notes are very candy-like, no complaints. A proper Midwest IPA. 4.03

The New Beer Weekend Thread has been extended through today. I would have picked a new beer if I came across this fact before opening my Terrazo, but should crack open one or two new ones before the day is out.

Let me finish my post by thanking all of you who work, with special thanks to all who have a role in the beer industry. Thank you to those who brew, serve, deliver, sell, maintain and all other roles in the beer industry. You continue to outdo yourselves each year, beers have improved exponentially over the past few decades based on the efforts of each and everyone of you.

A 2016 Bourbon County Coffee as I start the Halloween decorating. While good, it's a shadow of it's former self. Ya snooze, ya lose with the coffee brews! Perhaps it would have tasted better tomorrow?

I'll take the much needed precipitation even in the form of snow over the ash from the Cameron Peak fire that covered everything this morning.

Happy Labor Day to those of you that labor.:sunglasses:
