This is courtesy of our beer nerd friend @Roy_Hobbs. I am truly astounded at the generosity of the participants in these BIF’s.

The slightest bit of hop haze let’s you know this golden-hued beer, featuring a substantial bone white head, lies in old school IPA territory.

The juicy grapefruit and pineapple aromas second that position, and the dry finish that follows the fruity grapefruit and pineapple flavors makes it a quorum - this is old school indeed and edges toward WCIPA-ville.

Supremely well-executed, this would be in my beer fridge at all times if I had regular access to it.

A crystal clear amber with a foamy tan head, I approached this thinking it would be overly sweet (Maple Nipple? Hello!!!), but it wasn’t. There’s loads of maple on the nose, as expected, but the nose is if anything a bit muted.

The taste is anything but muted. There’s the maple forward, center, and back, and there’s also caramel, but what I did NOT expect was bitterness, almost piney - did Lawson’s hop this with Chinook, Centennial, or Simcoe hops???

I don’t know, but I know whatever produced the bitterness worked, because this could’ve been too sweet. Instead, it’s really balanced and full of flavor.

My only regret - this would be a perfect late fall beer. I should’ve held this until October/November, because this would have been PERFECT sitting by the fire and sipping on this.

I really liked the bitterness - great counterpoint to the sweetness of the maple syrup, IMHO.

One of the primary reasons I'm not a huge IPA guy, and I suspect why I wasn't a huge fan of this beer, is that sometimes that bitterness just makes me thirsty. As a general rule, I don't want to feel like I need to take a sip of water after every sip of beer. That said, I feel like sometimes it's a bigger deal to me than other times, so maybe it's just based on a variety of factors. A good reason why it's also fun to revisit beers from time to time.

In the interest of full disclosure, if I end up as your target, spare yourself the expense of Prairie Artisan - I have found them to be both overpriced and over-hyped. I personally would rather try some other local brews from breweries like Lost Forty, Ozark, Diamond Bear, etc.

You can name three breweries from Arkansas?!?!?!?! Most people who live here can't do that. I'm impressed.

After the infected mess that was last year's Pirate Bomb!, i'm real leery of Prairie beers as well. Plus they see distro out here.

Easy. I drive through AR a couple of times a year (except this year) traveling to TX and stop at the local stop'n'robs for gas and beer.

This thread is basically done. Check out the post a few before this with link to the official BIF #12 thread. I believe we should find out our targets today.

    NO!

but, as your late fee, you must send a 13 beer box to every participant before you get your target.

    Hmmmm...interesting

I wonder how many folks have had Budweiser Select 55 unless they prefer Natty Light instead...
