Similar. I still forget mine sometimes if we're just taking the dog for a walk or something, but we've got a basket by the door with the dog stuff (and right near the keys!) that has all our masks in it (supposedly, anyway), and it makes it way easier to remember to just grab one on the way out

Cracked a can of the Little Beast FH IPA. Didnt like it all that much. Tasted like a run of the mill IPA, and not a very good one at that.

yeah the Breakside Fresh Guy and MIgration Fresh outta Portland are the leaders in the clubhouse for FH IPAs so far for me.

Zoigl Oktoberfresh, FH Kolsch, and Occidental FH Pils all super tasty non-IPAs. Especially the oktoberfresh. Had another one last night and i see why it won Gold at the OR Beer awards for FH category

Was that Pinetop IPA or Green Keeper Pale? I wasn't clear from their announcement if Pinetop was fresh hop or not.

I don't think it was an IPA, just a Pale Ale but I could be wrong.

With your fresh hop beers, is it fresh hops for all stages? Do you make any that you only use the fresh hops for dry hopping, or only.in the whirlpool or anything like that? Do you have a sense for if there's an industry standard at all around that sort of thing?

And cheers again on the fresh strata, just finished the last one yesterday and they were a joy to have in the fridge

    Upright just posted this:
So fresh, so green. Fresh Hop Money Avenue IPA is open-fermented with wet strata from Goschie Farms, Inc. Look for notes of tomato leaf and strawberry as a tasty compliment to Money Ave’s tropical yeast profile. Available in crowlers to go starting this Saturday.

Thanks for the compliment! Almost all of our fresh hop beers only see the fresh hops getting used on the cold side in the brite tank. We usually flash freeze them with liquid nitrogen and smash them up, then bag them and put them in a brite tank, and transfer beer onto the hops. We pioneered this process several years ago with great results, and now many other breweries in the area use a similar process. They usually get a few days of contact time with the hops before packaging once we feel they've picked up enough fresh hop character.

The only exception this year was for FH Pilsner, where we used some freshly kilned Sterling in the whirlpool. We're also trying a new method of processing the fresh hops that go into the brite tank this year on a few beers, and the results are great so far, but I can't share that info yet...

I have no idea if this is possible but I think it's an awesome idea. So naturally I'm going to give it away for free, which is what I've done with all the ideas I've come up with that might have made me a multimillionaire by now (app that helps you find your car in a parking lot, face mask with a photo of your actual nose and mouth printed on it, etc.).

What if flash frozen fresh hops could be sold directly to consumers, maybe in little tea bags, to be added directly to a freshly poured beer? Not only would this enable us to have "fresh hop" beers year round, but adding the hops at the point of consumption might also take the freshness we crave to new levels.

I don't know about all of you, but I'd try it...

I don’t know enough about brewing—is this becoming a common practice across the board, or more of an exclusive thing? And does flash freezing mean that (theoretically) ...fresh hop season could last all year round?

Nothing sounds more appealing to me right now than a nice FH IPA. And maybe some clear skies, smoke-free air, an end to the pandemic, and ... well, you get the idea.

I like where your heads at. The closest I have seen was at a brewery anniversary a few years back, they had various hops that you could get put in a French press and then they would pour any beer you wanted on them. They, of course, had recommendations for certain combos but you were also free to experiment. It was wonderful

Well there's a brewery called fogbelt down in Santa Rosa that farms their own 1/4 acre of hops. Typically they have a festival in September where they tap all their wet hop beers, I just checked their website and they do have some on tap but none listed for packaging.

Outside of them, I saw one local brewery do a wet hop IPA last year, draft only. I assume that some of the places closer to Sacramento probably do some.but I never have seen them packaged. It really just doesn't seem to be much of a thing around here unfortunately. I suspect it has.to do with the cost and logistics but I'm not really sure why it doesn't get more play.

You've inspired me though, I'll start a thread in the Cali forum and see if any of those city slickers see.them show up down their way

I was hoping at least the Nor Cal breweries would as this would tie you in with the cascadian bio-region
