    100% agree!

And if your Stout needs caramel coloring to make it look darker, then you're not making a Stout. Skimping on dark malts as well. It just feels like cheating and being ripped off. Especially when they charge that much money for it. I've also noticed that Prairie has been doing it lately as well. But they still charge $10 for 12 oz of beer. If you use fake shit, lower the price then!

I'm not arguing or being snarky, but I do just want to point out that I have seen several "marshmallow" themed beers that just use vanilla beans as the "marshmallow" component. Sometimes a combination of vanilla and lactose (the latter I can't stand either), so technically speaking, there are natural marshmallow beers. Hell, some guys just go for it and add actual marshmallows. At any rate, I maintain that added flavorings are unnecessary and often superfluous.

Then again, is there really a distinction between a beer with favouring, and a beer with marshmallows? Who knows. I've gotta run down to my local Fluffernutter farm now.

You guys do realize A LOT of breweries use flavor extracts and don’t disclose it right? Most “good” breweries that use the extracts do it to complement the real ingredients. Any maple beer where you get a big whiff of maple when you open the bottle has extract. Same with peanut butter, as those ingredients don’t create the kind of aroma you can expect. Main and Mill Jifforia has peanut butter extract, same for Narrow Gauge PB and Stout and 3 Sons PB King.

I don't know why they don't just use free range Marshmallows.

I don’t disagree about the artificial flavoring and coloring. But on a side note, I’ll be damned if a Fluffernutter (had to look it up; I’ve never tried it nor seen it before!) beer doesn’t sound absolutely delicious. ISO Fluffernutter beer.

Any suggestions for beers that have these flavors? Too narrow of a style for too many options? I’ve searched now and it appears there are only a handful of breweries making quality FN offerings and none are near me...

Extract and artificial flavors can be different though.

Lol no plans. Simply a discussion here on the usage of artificial flavorings and coloring.

There have been S'mores beers that use the liquid flavorings that are at coffee shops. I don't think using those are anywhere near as egregious as places that actually throw a whole baked good into a beer.

I just dont understand this beer at all. Seems like a Goliath thing to do to use artificial flavors and caramel color...

God damnit TG, just give me Zeelander 4 packs instead of this stupidity.

I have very much enjoyed the two beers I have had from this fine brewery - Pseudo Sue and Dorothy's New World Lager. The fluffernutter described above is unfortunately another gimmicky beer that breweries feel compelled to attempt now and then. As a fellow BA stated, we don't have to buy it.

that makes sense, a blonde stout with caramel coloring. I would think it would say blonde stout but maybe not. Being interesting to see the color.

those are fine beers, but TG is a world class stout brewery. I’d honestly drink any stout I could get my hands on from them regardless of what they put in it, that’s the kind of magic they work

I'd prefer TG not fluff their nutters in their excellent barrel aged stouts.

After a little research I’d guess the artificial flavoring part is from the fluff. Most commercially made fluff contains vanillin, a synthetic compound used in place of vanilla or extract. Marshmallow fluff lists it right on the label and their biggest competitor jet puffed simply lists “artificial flavoring.” Didn’t dig too deep so I could be wrong. Still don’t understand the caramel color, maybe the fluff lest the stout looking lighter due to its color, sure seems odd to add it to a stout though.
