The post you replied to from me not only didn’t imply we didn’t shut down, I actually said exactly that regarding three states. See below.

By the way, my post above is referring to those three states shutting down AGAIN this past summer because they screwed up and opened up too early. So we didn’t just shut down for those first six weeks in the spring, we’ve been shut down to varying degrees since.

However, the issue was that we didn’t shut down early enough, for long enough, and prioritize testing from the beginning.

And running out of food was never an issue. Running out of hospital space was (again, something you still haven’t responded to).

This thread title should be changed as Covid stupidity has clearly spread to VT also.

COVID stupidity nationwide is what I says. Would be nice if we could actually do a total shutdown so we could get past this but we know we really don’t really care that much about each other.

Who's "we" who all stayed home for six weeks? A lot of us certainly did out of our own good sense, but it was not mandated everywhere, or the mandates did not overlap. "Non-essential" businesses were closed, but that definition was quite loose in most places. Our definitions of shutdown may not be the same.

The lack of federal mandates was a killer. Yes, asking for an indoor mask requirement nationwide will get pushback for those out in rural areas who are dealing with very few cases per day, but it would also have clapped back at those like Kemp in Georgia who don't even want those in urban areas to have a mask mandate.

The Post is the best paper on earth. Here is another article from the Post, you folks who wanted a longer shutdown have no idea what the effects are going to be on small businesses. Many of the places you love will not reopen when this is over. I've been doing my best to keep small breweries open, but we are going to lose a few. A friend owns or is a partner in 5 NYC restaurants. He was telling me back in November that NYC had one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel (citing costs of operating and empty store fronts). That was before the shutdown. https://nypost.com/2020/08/17/nyc-is-dead-forever-heres-why-james-altucher/

Citing Fox, and then flipping to NY Post when the former’s credibility was questioned - that deserves a round of applause
