If you get a FUPA from drinking these, then I think there's an infection going on.

This is closest to my tasting notes. Definitely a touch of Ryeway with the Sweet SJ component. But a distinct fudgy stout component as well. Loving it. However, the alcohol is hitting me quicker than most other DW releases by the end of the can.

Had one last night. Thought it was excellent. A little sweet, good barrel and booziness, some fudge characteristics, and of course the rye. Love the rye. This is one of my favorites from Rev since they started the DW series, honestly. Glad I grabbed two 4 packs.

Agree with most of previous posts. It's sweet, but the rye balances that. Just a terrific beer. Rev BA program keeps impressing the hell out of me.

Just went to pick up my and my buddy’s (proxy) allotment. He was unfortunately victim of the server issue. Was charged, received a confirmation email, but they don’t have his order and processed a refund. His words: “Welp, that sucks. Oh well.”

They ran out of Oktoberfest packages before my pickup time, so no family carb-loading, but yodeling is still on the schedule for later tonight. Got the free mug with my Thundertaker order, so I'll take that as a small consolation.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 450 for a 12oz can. Mmm!

He should probably go on every social media platform and beer website and complain about it.

If you're worried about the calories, I don't know if you should be rolling with the Deep Woods cans each weekend.

So this release unfortunately whooshed by me. I am a rev member but only 450 points, finally attached my email to my account. Does anyone know how the next releases are being handled? If I don't get an email about the next DW release it seems like they will post a public link on their site the week of to order?

Also you can now easily revisit this thread by just searching "FUPA" in the forums which is pretty handy.

My suggestion is follow Rev's Instagram in combination with your RevRewards email. I had 750pts and didn't get an invite this round. Hoping that changes in the next release, but if not, well, I will just follow their social media. Don't know the terms of next release until the next one comes out and Rev defines them. Wouldn't worry about it until then.

I don't think you'll get the fight club pre-release with 450 points. They don't announce what the totals are to get one but I think they're in the high 100s. They'll announce on social media for the regular online order. My bet would be same timeline as this one. Things should go much more smoothly this next time.

My very off the cuff review of Thundertaker is that it's the best non-adjunct barrel aged stout I've ever had from Rev. Incredible smell. Much better mouthfeel and thickness than other Rev stouts. Taste is long and complex. Yes a little sweet, but ooh that rye balances it out nicely. Had the same decadence as the BCS 2 year reserve from last year and I think is owed to that extra time sitting in the barrels. If anyone doesn't like theirs I'll buy it off you.

I usually try and avoid the hype train but I completely agree that it’s a top tier Rev stout. No adjuncts needed (or wanted) - unbelievable complexity. Just rich and layered. Makes me even more excited for the releases yet to come.

Yeah, I failed to mention the body in my quick review. I agree it’s more full-bodied than any other Rev stout I can think of.

Thundertaker is $$$. Wish I'd grabbed that 3rd or 4th pack when the opportunity presented itself.

Yep - makes me want to go back in time and grab one of those $230 sixtels of this stuff!
One of our good guys got one, and I believe I will find myself plying him with disinfected past and future Deep Wood cans to get some type of receptacle filled with this stuff.
