It's not just the low abv though. There's something genuinely thirst quenching in it that you don't get in the vast majority of dark ales.

Irish Dry Stouts have less body than many darker ales, but still enough body to satisfy.

They’re also obviously “dry” making them easy to drink. And the nitro just adds to all of that.

What do you hate about nitro, btw?

I had another of that Brewer’s Bridge with dupont. That may be some of the best sub-$10 /750ml saison I’ve ever had. Got one more bottle, probably wait a year to crack er.

The people who won’t drink stouts in summer mystify me. They rarely leave the house so who cares what season it is? Your moms basement is pretty consistent temperature wise and your friends would know.

It mutes the flavor. This has been a fairly hot topic on Beeradvocate over the years.

Guinness started doing this years ago to recreate the cask mouthfeel. It does a great job of that but does the exact opposite regarding flavor.

English Beeradvocate’s in particular hate it.

I wouldn’t say I HATE it though. I’ll never turn down a Guinness, and I really like Left Hand’s Milk Stout on nitro.

That's about as one-of-kind as a beer gets. Wife read the label a couple of years ago and said something like, "HOW can this be good?" Then she tried it. "It IS good," she announced.

Is this a new batch or is this the one they released a year ago? I really enjoyed that beer and wished I had gotten more.

I had Framinghammer on nitro once and that was...way too easy to drink.

I was at a beer store and they had CASES of Brewers Bridge for like $30. Yes, I bought one and drank that beer for quite a while. I feel like that beer has to be pushing 18-20 months now (when I asked why it was so cheap they told me it was because it was close to being out of code). It was still delicious when I was going through my case. I finished it sometime early COVID for a frame of reference.

I've mentioned on another thread (or this one) that I had a 4 pack of Allagash Saison that was about 2 years old and it was still excellent (though its been in the fridge the whole time). Generally I wouldn't buy a classic Saison more than a year old but I wouldn't hesitate to drink one. At $30 for a case though I would be tempted even at its current age. Part of that is due to the breweries involved in this beer. Saisons hold up exceptionally well, in general.

Coolship inventory is solid at the brewery? I’m not a regular on the website, just happened to look this morning.

I've also found that their Abbey yeast is extra durable. Black improves with age and peaks for me at three years. Dubble lasts two year without degradation as does Odyssey.

As a regular (to both the website and pre-pandemic times), I feel like Coolship is always available. I'm sure there's an outlier time or two, but I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever walked out of there without one -- and I go to Allagash every time I visit Portland.

They reached the goal of year round Coolship availability at the brewery in 2018 and then started limited distribution (only of Resurgam I believe). It should be a rare occurrence for it not to be available.

My local has Red, Peche, and Resurgam currently. The Cooship program has become more than limited distro.

Anyone see World on a String out in the wild in MA yet? I'm really looking forward to it.

I’ve seen coolship La Mure in Boston stores. Legit one of the best beers I’ve ever had.
