Hello fellow beer lovers, I am Thomas Form the Netherlands. I am new to trading and like to give it a try, my favorite beer style is stout, breweries I would like to trade beer for are: Goose Island Bottle Logic If you are interesed in trading with me, let me know, i don't have anything to trade at te moment, I would like to hear what kind of beers/breweries you are interested in, and i wil see if i can get my hands on it. Sincerely, Thomas
Hey there, I can give you more advice via private message later but for starters I would say your best bet is to obtain tommie sjef, Cantillon and Drie fonteinen. I would just drive to Cantillon and Drie fonteinen and do a pick up. It might be a little tougher if you only have seasonals though because once you factor in the cost of shipping and the ratio of bottles we have to give you to get one they might just be too expensive for us in the US. I imagine though for the right price you might be able to trade us some of those. In terms of Drie though many of us get Armand and gaston, golden blend, hommage and even some Framboos here. I think one thing you're gonna be up against is people are really reluctant to ship to Europe due to the cost and also the risk involved with customs. USPS is such a mess right now people are afraid to use them here. I just did a trade with someone on here from Holland and I will say I would try to avoid using Netherlands post/USPS and just use UPS instead as I understand that's about the same price. I just had a beer box coming from the Netherlands get turned around at US Customs and sent back to the sender via the regular Postal Service but it got to me in five days via UPS when he shipped it back the second time. There are a lot of moving parts involved in doing an international trade, especially right now. People will also be reluctant because you've never traded on here before so you may have to ship first if they will in fact trade with you at all.. I'm happy to give you shipping and packing advice later as well because that's key to avoiding leakage and breakage etc.
I didn't realize USPS was such a mess but it makes sense with elections right around the corner and the whole mail in ballot fiasco. All good points I would just echo the whole you need to ship first point. This should be communicated upfront that you will be comfortable shipping to someone that has 5+ trades and the shitty part given the slow downs with all shippers, you'll prob need to wait 3-4 minimum for the other side to receive your package and then they'd ship to you. What you are looking for should be no problem even for stuff you can find readily available at Cantillon.
thanks for your reaction, I have no problems with shipping first to an experienced trader. I will keep UPS in mind if i am going to send something I have often shipped bottles of beer in my own country, so that should be fine, ofcourse tips are always welcome.
I can't say the price difference between usps, fedex or UPS. But I sent 2 packages to friends from CA to the netherlands last month. one usps, another fedex. fedex arrived in 6 business days. USPS took about 4 weeks. Used 12 shippers on both, no issues.
