If you can get a crowd together that enjoys a good cheesefest, playing The Way to Eden and Spock's Brain back to back is a real blast. When my extended family gets together we like to do stuff like that.

Or some beef chow mien at Lee Ho Fook's, (long since closed in London).

I always interpreted that word as "nuttin" as slang for "nothing", but don't really know for sure.

Two of the best episodes to be sure. I will die on the hill that is “Amok Time” myself.

The scene in “The Arena” where Spock narrates as Kirk builds his diamond cannon is arguably the best couple minutes in television history!

I'm all in on "Spectre of the Gun" (although I was not a little disappointed to learn that they used those minimalist / surrealistic sets for financial reasons and not aesthetic ones).

The Top Three ST TOS drama episodes:
    1. Balance of Terror. Essentially a retelling of the movie The Enemy Below, only set in space and not on the seas. A battle of wills and wits between two brilliant commanders.
    2. The City on the Edge of Tomorrow. A love story and sacrifice for the good of humanity and history.
    3. The Doomsday Machine. A simplified retelling of Moby Dick, only set in space and not on the seas. A doomed obsession untimely vindicated.

    Honorable mention:
Space Seed because, besides the great story in the episode, it created the character Khan Noonien Singh, which led to the movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (the first good Star Trek movie) and, incidentally, to the JJ "here is how I would have done Star Trek even though I have no original ideas beyond camera flare" Abrams movie, Star Trek Into Darkness.

Star Trek is at its best when it focuses on the human story, with the future and space setting being secondary. It is at its worst when the story is intended to be dramatic, but is just silly.

In my opinion, therefore, The Way to Eden ranks in the bottom 4 of worst episodes, along side Spock's Brain, The Omega Glory, and The Savage Curtain. Sorry, @TongoRad.

The Star Trek comedy episodes (e.g. The Trouble with Tribbles) are another category entirely
