I haven't had anything from Odell in a while, and they used to be in my regular rotation when we lived in Minnesota (3+ years ago). Need to revisit them.

I'm not even a little bit surprised. Hopefully, breweries just mothballed their bottling machines, and did sell/scrap them.

Some breweries still run both, Bell's and Sierra Nevada are examples.

That wouldn't help breweries like, say, Oskar Blues. Maybe they'll have to resort to cutting back their distro?

At this point, those were wise decisions.

Sure, and O'dells is fairly sizable, and might have room for both. A lot of smaller breweries though, might have had to a decision.

The places that use mobile packagers, likely have some flexibility.

IMHO, OB (and corporate brethren) are probably OK, due to volume. Smaller breweries are feeling the availability pinch: why should can manufacturer bother selling 50,000 can to Bubba, when the OBs, Cigar City's, etc can buy a million cans at a time?

    2020, strange times.

    Indeed.

They're already feeling it apparently. There was a post on here not long ago (I cannot remember what forum it was posted in) where someone described buying a cigar city (I believe) pack and finding that it had a shrink wrap label over a dales pale (again, from a feeble memory, but I stand by the gist). The post was wondering if they got the right beer to match the outside label.

To me it indicated that canarchy was pulling from a large backstock of cans to fill a gap in the supply chain

Think that was the thread about their new lo-cal/ABV brew Jai Lo, or something like that.

If I wasn't so busy drinking beer from Texas, most of my IPA's would be coming from Odell. Mountain Standard is a great beer, pretty much all of their IPA's are.

Can't wait until materials are so scarce that all breweries can only fill reusable growlers.

Time to find my bottle opener?!

Oh yeah, it's on my key ring... which I don't seem to use that often anymore either.

they have both canning and bottling lines..

Kind of a bummer because their cans are unbeatable. Their bottles are great but the cans are always better than any other format for their offerings, including a pour from the teet.

Its only the 12oz cans that are being impacted by this with the taller skinner ones getting hit the hardest. Its not shortage of material just an inability for production to meet demand.

What's interesting is that since the talk of the can shortage I have actually seen more cans on the shelves, particularly from the smaller local breweries. I did a mixed six pack recently and this wasn't intentional at all but as I was walking out I realized that all six different new/new to me beers were all cans.
