    Maine Beer Company Fall
    coffee stout
    Bottled 09/08/20

The expected coffee nose and less expected light thin body in this dry stout. Nice coffee flavor with no sweetness. A small amount of lacing and light effervescence in the glass. Dark roast coffee drinkers will find it lacking bitterness though the decision to use cold brew coffee explains the low bitterness. An interesting beer but its deficits make me unlikely to purchase given its price and my own proclivity to seek strong flavors from coffee beers. I cannot imagine drinking this beer and not wishing I had chosen Great Lakes Brewing Company’s porter Edmund Fitzgerald. Cheers!

Cheers BA, following up with the OG version. I think I prefer the DDH.

    from the GF’s Oktoberfest mug...

that looks barely half filled with two beers.

What’s it say about me that she’s the one with two liter beer glasses whilst I “own” none?

Old school WCIPA from an old school iconic brewery. I don’t drink much of Stone’s stuff anymore (where oh where is my Xocoveza???!!!???), but I absolutely love this. A full-frontal hop assault that packs the resiny pine bitterness I adore.

    Bevog (Austria) - Ond.

A very nice Smoked Porter with a lovely balance of quite roasted and smoked malts, as well as some floral, herbal hops lending a certain earthy quality to this, with the coffee, chocolate, tobacco and licorice notes integrating very well into this flavor profile.

Late start today, a few draft beers after the sad Sox game.

    Starting with Smylie Brothers Wolcott

Never even heard of this brewery before, hope this is a good one. It’s a 6% IPA, 16 oz draft into a pint shaker glass.

Beer notes: IPA brewed with Amarillo, Azacca, MI grown Cascade and Comet hops. Bright, fruity hop flavors are backed by a mellow bitterness and light malt profile.

Appearance: Murky yellow orange Julius pour, bubbly white head lingers for a few minutes before leaving creamy lacing. 3.25.

    Aroma:
Light Citrus aroma, light pine back. 2.75

    Taste:
Bitter dry citrus, sweetness noted. The combination is uninspiring meh. 2.5

    Mouthfeel:
Light fizzy carbonation, medium slightly creamy body, light dryness, bitter over sweet. 3.25

    Overall:
Mediocre hazy IPA attempt. Hesitant to try this brewery again. 2.5

May try one more new beer, have a few good standbys as well.

Hope you are all having a good beer day wherever and whenever you are.
