Alright, now that Chicago was mentioned, I have been dragged into this Food Advocate discussion.

Haven't had Scatchell's for decades since I worked at Hawthorne and Sportsman's. The beef and bread are very good, their depression era peppers (celery and dry red pepper) are not my preferred type but are OK. Bob-o's (Cumberland and Irving), they are my favorite complete sandwich with real sweet peppers, and a hi-bred hot pepper. I like Jays and Portillo's as well.

Was this a Chicago stytle Italian Beef, or a Weck or cousin of said sandwich? Will go through Buffalo to get the real thing (and wings), but excited in anticipation of my first Weck next month in Vegas at a Buffalo bar in Summerlin.

No, Veterans Stadium was an embarrassment. I visited 42 MLB stadiums over the years, and it's the only one I literally saw rats in (looking down from seat level into the ground level).

Would also say Cheez Whiz is an embarrassment, but I can't because I am not a hypocrite. The only time I ever eat Whiz is on a proper Philly Cheesesteak, ordered whiz / wit.

    Pat's, Gino's, or elsewhere?

This, except I am in the minority here regarding Vienna. Prefer the Leon's sausage joints and garden on a bun joints (the now closed Wally's on Central & Diversey, Bowser Dogs (Irving east of Six Corners) or the Tastee Freeze which served it that style.

Superdawg is my favorite existing joint at this point, Costco the only other place I get I hot dog (I don't shop there, except for a cheap but decent hot dog which I top at home).

Jello Hot Dogs (without natural casing) makes sense, Jello "Ribs" does not. Many Chicagoans flip the two.

Yes. Dunked. Nothing like a Buffalo Beef on weck.

ABInbev has Zeigenbock in TX. Shiner bock knockoff.
My German coworkers said Currywurst was drunk food. It also got some shade because it originated in Berlin.

    har har har.

whispers *the vet was a dump*

Cheez whiz sucks. I go provolone wit. And I'll take the field there - Jims, Steve's, TonyLukes - the local pizza place that also does a banger cheesesteak.

Cool, I always look for local joints and suggestions when I can. Only been to Philly a few times, stopped at Gino's and that was the only chance there. Pop's in Vegas is run by a Philly guy, flies Philly bread in daily because you can't make good bread in Vegas (water is the primary reason). Will have to try it with provolone next time.

I think Monti's on the north side burned down, but they had great authentic cheesesteaks in Chicago.

Mojo's East Coast Eats in Downer's Grove also have great authentic cheesesteaks. They also do a great roast pork sandwich.

Best hotdog I ever had was an all-beef dog, wrapped in bacon, deep fried. Served on good roll, (don't know specs...) with habanero catsup and whole-grain mustard.
Best sandwich IMO, is Montreal Smoked meat, preferably Schwartz's, medium fat, served warm from the steamer with a touch of mustard (brown) on Montreal rye bread.

    This here is the truth!

You know you are in for something good when you are sitting at a table in a restaurant waiting to be served and the octogenarian waitress approaches and asks you one question:

    “Lean, medium or fatty?”

Ralph & Rickey's pizzeria for the times the line is too long at Tony Luke's'.

I go for the Italian or the Coney, or the NJ deep fried. Just without any mustard or catsup.

It's like Trader Joe's to some extent. The Aldi stores first arrived in New Hampshire about three years ago and so far I have not seen any of their knock-off brands in our stores.
