Likely because locals won’t buy their stuff due to recent canning / oxidation issues?!?

it's not just EQ... with over 40 different cans available, Other Half is distributing to places like New Hampshire and CT. Over supply and probably some waning interest with the variety available by home delivery from other breweries, etc.

they're also both making and packaging more beer than ever before. at some point, local demand has to become lower than supply. same goes for OH.

Don't know why OH hasn't come to nj like grimm did. Lot closer than New Hampshire

Probably a compliance/distribution licensing thing. I believe that NJ can be pretty restrictive, and while I don't know much about NH's system, their whole "live free or die" thing suggests they may be more open.

Have not heard too much about their recent canning/oxidation issues. Is this mainly with their shipped beer or with the beer you can pick up from the brewery, or both?

Yeah I have seen other half doing it a lot. I always just figured these breweries always sell out, although not as quickly as the once did (the hype train has left the station?). I was just wondering if this was a COVID situation to help with cash flows. It is just kind of sad seeing EQ sit on the warm shelf (plenty of it) in multiple liquor stores.

We have been getting EQ cans for the first time the past few week in GA

I ended up paying ~7.50 for a single of the Koru yesterday and it was good but definitely not cheap. Canned 9/18 and ended up on GA shelves 9/30. The very first week we got it and people didn't know it was going to be semi regular here the stores were selling 4-packs for $33.

jeez that’s way too much for EQ hops. Make sure to check the canning date.

On a more positive note, all the stouts they’ve released this year have been outstanding. Missed out on yesterday’s BA release though. LADS BA and other variations should be coming in the next few weeks

Definitely a COVID situation since neither EQ nor OH have resumed draft sales, so all of their production is going towards canning.

I don't want to shop at the places that you shop at haha.

I’ve been wondering how much cancelled festivals has added to the abundance. Any chance that’s also making a dent?

I have seen these prices in multiple shops in multiple states. Primarily in MN and MD, which are not local to me. I think these high prices are common (due to the mark-iup from distribution) for any of the shops getting EQ distributed to them.

Here in NYC singles of stuff from breweries like Singlecut and Finback usually go for at least $7/can at retail shops, though admittedly it's different needing to pony up for a full 4 pack.

$28 and 1 bottle pp kills me on these stout releases...its really tough to justifiy 90 minute drive for one bottle...wish they would do multi bottle releases with some of the non ba stuff at times

You mean Middletown, NY has nothing else to offer? Take a 5 minute walk for some grub at Taco Factory, and get some of the best cannoli at De Filippis.

Weird. Def in the minority. I remember talking to a three michelin starred chef in Paris a couple of years ago and he asked me, “av you been to le middletown dans nouveau york? Zis ees a culinary mecca oui?”

I am still in that stage of "Oh a multiple hours long drive isn't that bad" haha. I am sure one day that will change.

It legitimately does always surprise me (and it shouldn't) when people take big trips to buy beer but do... nothing else. Bakeries, coffee shops, museums, historical sites, taco spots, whatever, there's almost always something else worth doing near the brewery you're going to.
